What pyrometer unit will you be using?

I've tried 36 hot and still too far away from the Goodyear symbol. I'm trying 34-36 hot this weekend which is only going to be 95 at COTA. For sure you want a accurate pressure gauge to use. The Longacre one I have is +/-0.2 psi

Mmmm IDK think that is too low. Maybe the track you're on too, and tires not being pushed to roll as much. Likely they will get rather greasy pretty quick. I've been told before not to adjust for tire "wear" based on air pressure alone!! That means you will need a pyrometer probe, not just a air pressure gauge. This will tell you if your alignment specs and pressures are appropriate for your driving style for that particular track. The next track will most likely be needing different specs, but most of us can not afford to deal with such particulars to that level.

My mistake, meant pressure.
What meter do you recommend if I want to start measuring tire temps?

Based on scrub lines alone this tire (Left Front) is over inflated, the pressure was right at 38 and I saw 39 occasionally. So id imagine if I was at 37 ( I believe that's the recommended hot pressure for RC driving) It would be right at the top of the wing or pretty close.
It was really hot that day by the way and started with 30 PSI. |

I see feathering all the way into the lettering on my front SC3s. I know the pic doesn't show the sidewall, but look at the outside edges. You guys can push so much harder...

Sorry for delay been up at Mont Tremblant and spotty service. I honestly do not know what pyrometer to recommend. I have a cheap infrared one, and I had a guy that does my track alignment check mine with a probe pyrometer at my last event to check the latest alignment spec's and wear. Sorry!! I'll ask what unit he is using tomorrow...

NB i did have a "proper" pyrometer. Never left the box lol! I find managing by pressure and wear marks to be completely reliable. Imo anyway. |

Do you risk a blowout if you run tires much past the cords showing?

I run:
Front 26 PSI Cold Rear 27 PSI Cold Track alignment per track supplement. Target is 35 PSI hot. GY SC 3's will wear closer to the sidewall mark as they wear down. The tires start square and will round the outside edge after 5+ track days.
