You can check for the raised lettering without getting underneath. All you have to do is open the hood and feel behind the pulley. Assuming you don't have very fat fingers you will be able to feel the area where the raised marking would be. My oil pan does not have the markings. It was built 12/15.
So this should be a recall correct?

Thanks for the info, I'll also pass it on to the dealership so they can inspect their other cars. Looks like GM had the dealer send them the engine so their engineers can do a root cause failure analysis.

Thats terrible, I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy issued a recall on this.

It was a preliminary bulletin on the ACDelcoTDS site. I don't know what it will ultimately mean in terms of action by GM. It's not clear as to what the root issue is on that particular oil pan. I'm speculating that for whatever reason the 2 pickup bolts are not retaining the tube correctly. Lack of loctite? Bad initial torque? Is this an inevitable result for that pan? Hopefully they come out with further details as to the likely hood of a problem. I do think a recall should happen before people start dropping engines. It clearly can be prevented.

All I know is that if my motor were stock and the low oil pressure light came on I wouldn't be sad if the engine seized. I had a 95 LT1 engine rebuilt buy the dealer and it was never right after the fact. Those guys just don't take a methodical approach to disassembly and reassembling. I remember seeing my engine spread all over the damn place with no organization whatsoever.

So i bought my new 2016 2SS M6 on jan. 27th, had it for 1 week in which time i drove from Dallas, TX to north western Arkansas and back. Never Let the engine go above 4.5k RPMs no hot rodding except for once i opened it up on the highway to see how it handled. Love the car, the design, everything. Well after one week and 1000 miles i was driving back from a grocery store when the "Low oil pressure light came on" i instantly pulled it over called a tow truck and had it towed back to the dealership. Checked the oil level and it was perfect, did not smell burnt or have any signs of trouble, looked like brand new oil. Well the car was at the dealership for 3 days when i got a call saying they had ran the car for about five minutes and had seized up the motor, which is surprising considering i told them low oil pressure, oil level is fine and that it seemed the pump was not working. so.......now they are pulling the engine to see exactly what happened and reading the "black box" to see how it was driven. I just cant believe after only a 1000 miles of actually fairly easy driving that this could have happened......anyways devastated but plus side is im getting a brand new engine, hopefully that has no defects.
Shouldn't they give you a new car. Doesn't replacing the engine lower the value?

I was going to trade in my 2011 in late feb. or march. After reading all the issues I think I will put on hold to see wat up and how GM fixes the issues with quality control.

There are a few issues for sure, a lot of us have little things that aren't perfect and many have no issues at all. I wouldn't make my trading decision on the ones that have had quality control issues or really big problems. That can happen to any manufacturer. I love mine and its said that others are having serious defects or getting cars replaced. Obviously this oil pump issue will get resolved and hopefully the customer will be satisfied with GM's response and repair.

GM has created the perfect storm. A new manufacturing plant, a new model year and intense supply chain pressure. You cannot possibly believe that you're going to get a consistent quality product.

Fat fingers? How about needing 10 foot long arms??? LOL

Do you think anyone with a TPW date after a certain point this year won't have this issue? It seems like a defective batch of parts that they've already corrected since the new part won't have raised numbering.

A couple of us from the 01/25 club are currently in qc hold. Might be because of this issue.
