The Z06 has issues with the Hellcat twins, as does the CTS-V, despite the Z06 being nearly a thousand pounds lighter and the CTS-V being around 400lbs lighter.
My guess.. 3,925-3,950lbs...and the Hellcats will still be dead even with it. |

Hellcats can overcome acceleration physics with brute force, but cornering and braking not so much. The ride is smooth and the car is fast, if that's enough for someone then by all means buy it. ZL1 will be the total package and if it's a few tenths slower than a DR hellcat, it will still be 10x the car IMO.

I agree with this 100%. Go to the track or at least start from stop. Almost like the new youtube sensation of tug a war. All these videos do not prove anything. Depends on the road surface, traction, what gear you are pulling in, etc. Too many variables to compare each other for any bragging rights.

on our autobahn most times "brute force" counts !
thatīs why i always say sell us pls supercharged versions on stock chassis which are nowadays good enough to handle 550hp or more well. We see it in germany the 420hp Mustang is fast but when it comes to autobahn racing which is always on rolling that thing need 100hp more power to really smoke these little rats ;-) All new sporty cars here have now Turboīs, even Porsche switched now all to Turbo versions...which yes sound big shit ! |

The C7 Z06 is setup with downforce in mind, even the ones without the Z07 package have a lot of down force. This down force comes at the cost of higher speed acceleration as it is creating drag to produce the down force, this is to improve braking and cornering.

They don't have trouble with them.
Its the manual zo6 vs people with auto hellcats. Driver error etc That or they have mods and don't say. The power to weight ratio isn't even close. Hero time for a stock zo6 is in the low 10 range. Hellcat cant touch that bone stock. They can clip high tens with a tire when stock. Several have tried to claim faster but was BS with mods. Its a 4500lb car 700hp or not. Ive watched some roll races with truly stock cars and when they used an auto zo6 it wasn't super close. He would even give him the hit...catch up and pass. Ive seen a vid where it was close...the zo6 was a manual. |

Creates a bunch of downforce. I believe the new zo6 has a slower 0-150 than the last zr1...but its because of the crazy amount of downforce. A zl1 at 39-4000 lbs and 650hp should run right with a hellcat from any speed. Probably leave it from a dig if both on stock tires. And handle circles around it. to me the 64k question is if the hellcat rolls with Z06's the heavier camaro may not fare too well.
I am interested to see how this car shakes out. I think it will be an all around better drive but I think the 1.7L blower just runs out of steam up top. kind of GTR like where up at roll speeds it is not as good as you think it could be. I offed my hellcat last week and don't know weather to wait for this car or track down a GT350.

The ZL1 is going to need some upgrades to keep up with a Hellcat in the 1/4 mile .......car for car.

The C 7's 650hp versions are being outrun by the new Vipers. Sad but true. The Viper is in the C 7 class not the Camaro class. It's surely true that he 2016 Camaro is much lighter than the 2016 Hellcat but that said the bar is set and numbers have been posted.
It's a shame Chevy continues to play catch up all the time rather than to make a screaming statement but it is what it is. While Chevy is still trying to determine what options will come in the Camaro you can bet that Chrysler Fiat is shedding weight for their new generation car. The Challenger has been around far too long to continue with the current platform. It's going to get changed soon so to keep the ball rolling on the new gen Camaro Chevy needs to seriously up their game. Heck, it's not just Ford and Mopar, it's also the Imports which have to be dealt with. It's exciting times we live in but at some point someone is going to slam the hammer on how much performance we are allowed to have. The cars and trucks of today are awesome as compared to our older stuff (except for weight). |
