Chevy Considering Dropping the V6, Proof
Hi,
I got an email from GM on my new car purchase, specific to engine choices. It was a survey and when it got to the engine choices there were 2 4 cylinder options and 3 8 cylinder options. I chose none of the above and the next screen asked me why. I stated, "V6 minimum, preferred". For my survey to matter I shaved 11 yrs off my age. My hunch was right, Chevy wants to copy Ford & Honda ditching the V6 for 2018 is making them seriously considering dropping V6 Level. It's a known fact that 4 cylinders have to work harder. Yes, they are more efficient, but if you want to keep a car 8-10 yrs a V6 is better in the long run. |

A turbo 4 would be a great replacement for the NA V6, just not the current turbo 4.

The hybrid 4 sounds good to me.

Personally not a fan of this. Mustang’s V6s didn’t have much sound to make them awesome. The current Camaro V6 Stock And NPP sounds beautiful.

Also I'm not clear on how this is "copying". GM eliminated the V6 in the Malibu, the Regal, the Eqinox and Terrain. You have to get a GS if you want a V6. And GM will "LEAD" in being the first to offer a 4 cylinder in the Full Size Pickup. It's all about FE.

The 3.6 is a pretty solid motor. I say ditch the 4 cylinder and keep the V6 and V8.

4’s are junk no matter what brand of car it is , after 2-3 years they can’t make it up a mountain unless you start out at 70 by the time you hit the top of the mountain your doing 40

I know for others there is a place for a V6 muscle car (or 4cyl), I would not want one without a V8.

Wonder What the 3rd V8 option you could chose...the 5.3?? Maybe it would be a viable choice for some V6 buyers.

It's actually her second one, we got the first new model in 2016 but it was totaled in an accident. We liked it so much we promptly got another one, same trim, color, etc...

That would make the 2.0t we've had in our last 2 ATSs one of a kind then. Very glad we were so lucky!!! Can't believe our good fortune.
