Maybe that was the Autos.
I did a well optioned build/price Hellcat the first year and it was $63K with an auto. I almost bought one but they didn't offer Hemi Orange, and then all the non-filled ordering issues happened and I was glad I waited.

Dodge really screws the pooch when it comes to business. They could have sold 400% more Hellcats the first year if they'd built them all.

I'm definitely no brand fanboy either. If my Challenger sucked I'd tell ya.

Ah, gotcha. I was hoping I had 5 more HP or something LOL
I haven't seen any manufacturers quoting Speedy's Garage for reliability tests. Dodge is a bottom feeder for reliability and has been for years. The main reason I would never buy one of their products.

Price is the big ? for me. A buddy of mine and I have a bet with the loser having to buy dinner. My guess is $99,999.99. Dodge knocked it out of the park the first year of the Hellcat at $58K, then shocked everybody when they jacked the price up $10K the second model year, complete BS. I'm sure they'll try to capitalize on this with some kind of limited quantity BS or similar.
Yea to me knowing what they run in factory spec is good for 3 things, bragging rights, giving a basis for comparison (because all cars react differently to mods), and showing the car's weakness/strengths. You can make anything fast if money is no object. But if a weak point is simply tire grip, well that's a cheap fix.

$100k and this thing will definitely be a legend that everyone knows about but no one owns. It will be as rare as a Viper at that point, which could be all they can afford to do with it. Maybe a trickle down package for the regular Hellcat offering the fenders/tires/engine tuning.

I know this has been laid to rest already, but for anyone who thinks any miata or frs would be able to even touch a 1le SS while auto crossing should check this out: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...=477232&page=4

Hint: the turbo4 has no problem keeping up

Also, would never buy one, but I think just the fact the Demon exsists is pure awesomeness!
Great thread; love the ideas and speculations being tossed around

Chevy had a survey this past year for Camaro owners asking interest in a variety of drag racing specific options and after market parts. It included a drag pack

Looks like it could have 815hp. This is one of the wallpapers from the Demon website. The 3 has been photoshopped to an 8.

That could be the race gas output. Most think 757 is the pump gas number now.

You needing some attention Sven? LOL

In all seriousness, I thought the same thing personally and you couldn't have given me a Dodge vehicle. I was a Chevy guy. Then in 2009 when the G5 Camaro was released dealers marked them up $10K and I wouldn't have it, but wanted something. Test drove a Mustang GT (was 4.6L weakling back then) and was underwhelmed by it's whopping 315HP. Test drove the Challenger last and LOVED it. Now, keep in mind they were owned by Mercedes during the design of the current LX and LC cars, and some of their assembly techniques as well. Made a huge diff in quality. Mine came with a lifetime power train warranty from Dodge, the only year they offered that. I have to have it inspected every 5 years and the dealer got a big kick out of me bringing it in for that LOL. The only thing left stock is the paint and the rear diff, and they said the rear diff was still covered and did the inspection LOL. I have a video of us playing around with that on my YT channel.

I don't know what the deal is with that chart, maybe old data, or maybe some other cars are just big POS, but certainly isn't representative of current models.

Nothing with the chart, if you go back years they are always near the bottom.

Can we stick to the Demon please? All surveys/personal experiences aside....reliability probably isn't a big concern for someone buying a car purpose built for the strip. Especially if it costs almost $100k lol.
