Agree on both, Smith is the perfect example of a game manager and Dalton never comes through in big games

Statistically at least, Alex Smith is better than most QB's in the league. I kind of forget but I think the only ones who are clearly better are Brady, Brees, and Aaron Rodgers. There may be a few others, but just a few.

It’s more than just statistics. Those only tell you half the story. I watch a lot of football. Rivers, Russell, Big Ben, Newton, Luck all better than Smith. And a bunch of other QB’s that you could argue are better.
I believe Pennington is/was the most accurate passer ever, doesn’t mean he was a top tier QB. I mean, if Smith was really a top 5qb in the nfl, he wouldn’t be jumping team to team in the middle of his career.

KC is trending down atm, so it's not really a loss in the overall scheme of things. Their defense is old, they've let guys go...and Smith's contract was too much to balance all of that out.
