Oddly enough I heard this the other night while talking to a buddy of mine in Austrailia. We were both rather confused since holden is supposed to be shutting down production there. Do u know any other details?

But there isn't anything that says you can't build such a car elsewhere in the world then ship it to Australia.

With the exception of the window behind the c-pillar, I like what I see. More angles would be nice.

The Buick looks like a four door Riviera... Not necessarily bad, I just don't see people running out to buy it... Maybe it will sell better in China because they seem to love Buicks from what I've read.
I've read of rumors of a new Chevy "SS" being made on the Alpha platform... Could this potentially be the new Commodore that will be imported to Aus? If they're just going to import an Impala, or Malibu, they might as well just close up shop now. I can't see GM making a RWD sedan solely to export to Australia to keep the Holden Commodore name plate alive. So whatever it is, it's obviously got to be sold here too. In my mind, if you figure all the shipping/export costs, the "Commodore" than they receive in Australia will surely come at an inflated cost, just like the SS, and the prior G8 did here, and will more than likely, ultimately fail... Look at current SS sales, and prior G8 sales (of course the Gov't mandated shut down of Pontiac surely didn't help), many people claim the GTO was a failure because of the name, but having been a former GTO owner, it was a great and comfortable car... It goes both ways. I see 2018+ Commodore sales being very low due to high costs and within a couple years it will be done, just as the SS, G8 and GTO. But only time will tell |
