The upper grille difference is indistinguishable even to people that know these cars. You could cut the tabs to make it work, but I would recommend doing the lower grille and keeping the upper. The biggest difference is the paint. The normal ZL1 is Mosaic Black and the ZL1 1LE is the flat black. Unless you are super OCD, then they aren't obvious even when you are parked next to a ZL1 1LE.

Also, I don't like wasting 250 bucks or whatever it is when all I have to do is carefully make a few little slits so the 1LE splitter would fit correctly. I thought about keeping my original bezel (just to be unique) by making the 2 slits in the original bezel to house the dive planes. So, OP or anybody else that has made this jump, Now that you already have seen the splitter and held it in your hands, do you believe you could have modified your ZL1 lower grille correctly?

OK, Thank you. I'm ordering the grill and splitter..... along with a few other goodies (smoked reflectors and lights and smoked rapid fire 3rd light, diffuser), red ram air to match the toe hook, Black Gorilla lug nuts and inflator valve caps, tonight then

How did you cut the slots for the canards in the fenders. I just bought the whole package and that is the only thing concerning me.

On the inside of the bumper, there are 3 markings on each side, where you have to cut for the canards. There are about 1/8" x 1". I used a small diameter drill bit, made a series of holes along the marking and then cleaned up the edges with a razor. I also applied blue painter's paint to the painted side of the bumper.
I believe someone posted that the MY17 doesn't have the markings.

I saw that photo and it looked a little scary to me. I was hoping someone had figured out a cleaner way to do that.

After reading through the entire thread I pulled the triger and bought all the 1LE aero. I bought all the parts from a local Chevy Dealer Ship. I saved a bundle on shipping, 0$. Total cost on the whole project was $1700. Rear wing, hood wrap, and 1LE Aero. Thanks to everyone who wrote many comments in this thread.

What rear wing did you get? Seems like a steal only $1700 for everything

He certainly can't be referring to the CF OEM one.

The wing is OEM? Exact same as the 1LE? Can you tell us what dealer you purchased it from and what part number it is? $1700 for the wing, front end and wrap is very cheap!

Edit: you replied when I posted. So you didn't get an OEM 1LE wing. If you did, that dealership was about to get a ton of phone calls.

No your right, it is not the OEM one. Even at the dealer discount, $4300 was way out on line.

Hey gra359, I sure like that 1970 Boss 302 of yours! Of all the years of Mustangs past and present the 1970 was my favorite!

Thanks Greg, 69 and 70 are my favorite years also. The styling back then will never happen again. I grow up during the muscle car area. I loved every minute of it.
