I was thinking that GM might want to make a 700 HP last model year? I know there were rumors, but not sure what the consensus was regarding that.

I am still debating finding a dealer and putting a deposit down on the C8 Z06 (my dream car was the C7 Z06 but at 6'6" I far from comfortably fit - it has similar room to my wife's MX5) since I fit well in the C8 convertible it's difficult not putting down some money and waiting a few years. My only challenge and reasoning is that I don't want to get rid of my SS 1LE and don't have another free spot in the garage so... either we upgrade our garage/house and wait a bit for a C8 or I swap the SS 1LE for the C8 Z06. First world problems for sure but I'd rather keep this Camaro as I think we can all see that getting a manual NA V8 won't be an option in the very very near future.

The only thing that gets me is the goofy interior with that giant stack of buttons. I don’t get why they didn’t clean that up and incorporate them into the touch screen?

Yeah that button stack is kinda jenky. I think it’s a major fail point in the majority of peoples eyes. I can’t see them changing it for the life of the car to be honest. Would cost to much $ and they can sell more than they can make for at least the next 2-3+ yrs?

The person that made that interior decision was the same one that decided to botch the bow tie nose job of the Camaro.

Most of the buttons are already incorporated in the touch screen except for the heated and ventilated seat and defrost buttons.

I rarely use the touch screen in any of my vehicles to control the HVAC system. It's too easy just to press a button.

That big divider going down the middle of the C8 interior is what gives the chassis it's rigidity. Eliminating the buttons isn't going to eliminate the divider without a major revision to the chassis itself.

I’d have to disagree with the rigidity comment. Here’s a cutaway pic. Unless I’m missing something, I don’t see how the “Great Wall of china” button stack isn’t anything but a dash/trim add on. Looks like they have space to do a totally diff design if desired. Imo it’s highly unlikely until the next generation just based on cost.

Z06 Cup 2 R track tires are unaffordable

I just bought another set of great condition Pirelli DH scrubs for my ZLE that will perform as well as the PSC2 R, for the price of 1 PSC2 R.

IMHO the new Z06 Cup 2 R track tires are unaffordable for efficient track-day use and this is a major mistake with this car. If you can afford to run these tires on track then buy a 765S, F8 or at least a 992 GT3. A key point with the C8 Z06 was to create a dominant track-day car at 1/2 the price of the competition so I can afford to kick exotic car ass :-)

At the price of the new Z06, I would seriously be considering a GT3. That being said, I really don’t think most Vette guys are going to like the lack of low rpm torque this car is going to have. You are really going to have to rev it to get the power. I’d imagine within a year or so of release, there will be plenty of these for sale on the used market. Just my opinion.

LOL - the "adds to chassis rigidity" was a clearly pull it out of your azz comment

11:30 in, this is how a sports car interior is done (RHD notwithstanding)

At 45 minutes into this interview Tadge Juechter describes how and why the center tunnel is essential to the rigidity of the car. The whole interview is good, but just to earmark that part of the discussion.

Yeah, the center tunnel is like the back bone. Not the single row of buttons in the dash trim that Hawk tried to claim was critical to the rigidity of the car. That's laughable that a dash trim piece would contribute to the rigidity of a car's structure, and hawk tried to claim that.
