I guarantee come fall air at the tracks like ATCO with good DA we will see high 10 second passes from ZL1's BONE STOCK with stock tires off showroom floor.

Yep, just tires on the 10.62. I don't think the DA was anything crazy, but the driver is accustomed to the track for sure. He's done VERY minimal mods (pulley, 3.09 rear, injectors, tune) and runs 9s on pump gas now at nearly 140MPH. He gave me a new target though with that 10.62 LOL and agree that's a smoking fast time. My old Challenger ran a best of 10.850 at 128 so if I can best that in the Hellcat with just tires I'll have met my personal goal.
The ZL1 is an awesome car no doubt about it. I seriously considered it, and would have probably gone with it had the HC not been discounted heavily. Dodge WAY over produced 2016s and they went for $10K+ off sticker after sitting on lots for several months. While brilliant at engineering and marketing, the business couldn't have screwed up more if they tried. Under produced 2015s causing massive price gouging ($20K+ ADM) then turn around and flood the market in 2016 leaving cars to languish on dealer lots. To add insult to injury, after touting the 3300 Demons that will be built making this sound "rare" less than 3,000 Hellcats were produced in 2017, so again the business gives their customers another black eye. Hey, at least it allowed me a killer deal on my 2016, but I'd be really pissed off had I payed MSRP let alone ADM. Some guys are glutton for punishment I guess as they're going through it all over again on the Demon. |

These are 2 great cars that are guaranteed to bring smiles to those who drive them. I crossed shopped the hellcat before buying my 2nd ZL1. After reading about the rear end issues and broken driveshafts, I decided on the Chevy. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the Dodge if for nothing else but the sheer comfort. I'm not saying the ZL1 isn't comfortable, but it's not living room comfortable
. It truly is an all business car that's only reaffirmed after hopping from the '17 into the '13, which is a bit smoother riding and easier to get into and out of. Do I regret buying the '17? Absolutely not!!! It is an incredible car that does everything better than any other car I have ever driven. In saying all that, I'm a drag racer at heart. Though having a car that handles is great, straight line performance matters to me more. I've said it before in this thread that I think this car will run high 10s in favorable conditions, stock. I may be proven wrong but I aim to find out. Either way, it will be close. Drag radials on this car won't have the affect that they do on the hellcat since the ZL1 isn't as severely traction limited on street tires as the kitty. Ultimately I see the fastest ZL1 times being around .3 slower than the quickest Z06s. It will be difficult to launch like the Z06s, my buddy routinely pulls very low 1.6 60' times with his. I have gone into the mid to high 1.6s in my '13 stock. I think it will take a 1.6? and good air for the new Z to run 10s. It will be done!

Big Dave, I am betting my next time out we will run a ten. Last trip was a 11.10 in a head wind and 75 degrees. Running 127 almost every time.

The trap speed of 127 alone should be enough for a 10. It was probably just a matter of the launching. Some of the Hellcats that ran in the 10's were trapping 127, so the speed/power is there, that's undeniable.

Nor have It at any track and most are modified with gears, Cat delete, CAI etc.But they won't tell you that either. This is of course in slow west coast air.

That's right....but it can also be the difference in tracks will equally skilled drivers/mods
Fwiw, I've seen tuning adjustments alone take my buddy's a8 c7 from 11.4 to 11.0 throughout the night

If the tires are not drag radials or slicks....the car is considered "stock" everywhere else on this planet.... except this forums fast list and a few anal members.
Never ever have I heard someone at a race track say my car is modded with all season tires. You guys kill me.
