OP here...

In response to the Bulletin number, it's been so long now I don't believe I have it. It probably won't ever be a recall as it's until replicated "working as intended".

For those frustrated the Dealer not able replicate the sound I also had this issue as well. For me it did it mainly after a first drive of the day. Once the fluid heated up it went away. So in my case I unfortunately left mine over night with them and the next morning they drove it and heard it. They changed the fluid twice and the sound eventually went away.

As far as explanation for the sound... The fluid in the diff is good fluid, however when a lot of the 6gens sat for extend period of time in a lot at the Lansing Plant, or now sitting in Dealer lots the fluid never got to be broken in so to speak so it's just needing to be changed again and driven.

So I just started hearing this groan when my car is cold with 1,500 miles. I know some here have had their diffs replaced. Did that solve the problem? I could live with the noise if there isn't actual damage and eventual failure because of this problem.

Mine was low on fluid. According to the dealer, that corrected the issue, but I have not gotten it back to see yet.

I can believe that. Mine started making the sound for the first 2 or 3 corners after being cold. Changed the fluid and the noise seemed to go away for a day or two, then came back, but it wasn't as severe. After another two weeks or so it disappeared. I took the car to track night last week and afterwards changed the fluid and did some 8s. The next morning and ever since, not a sound. I can believe the fluid was old, or broken down a bit or whatever and it took a change and a few hundred miles to clean up (maybe that's why some dealers are changing it twice).

Dealer replaced my fluid a few days ago. It started groaning at around 2k miles. Haven't heard a peep since they replaced the fluid though.

My SS started making this noise recently, mileage is about 4,500. Only for the first two or three corners after I start driving each day, then it goes away.
I took the car to the dealer last week. It took them three days before they called me to say the technician says GM is aware of the problem and recommends doing figure-8s in a parking lot to stir up the diff fluid. I asked if the fluid should be changed and the dealer said no, you just do the figure-8s. I asked if they would perform the figure-8s to verify it solved the problem and they said "OK, we can do that for you"!
I picked up the car Friday evening, and when I drove it Saturday morning guess what? No change - it's still grumbling for the first few turns.
I'm taking it back to the dealer this week.

I made a thread a bit ago under the fluid maintence section as I talked with one of the GM engineers directly. (changing of the owners manual) however at 1500 miles I changed mine out and drove it about 200 miles and started to hear the groaning upon turning when cold. was told by him as well that the changing of it multiple times will seem to help/go away. So ironicly, last night I changed it for the 2nd time this time, I put a smidge more than what was in the owners manual 1.2 is what manual states, I believe I put in somewhere around the 1.5 (or stick my pinky finger in and actual feel the fluid). did some figure 8's on my lunch hour today. time will tell but I can tell the groan is still there as of today...
I have a friend at the dealer where I purchased my car, and he said it happends with the few vettes similar issue. The TSB seemed to be a bit different. They have been draining and filling the fluid, doing figure 8's in the parking lot and doing another drain and fill. Most have been successful. he never said that he's replaced a rear end because of it. I myself, do not like the idea of noise coming around the back end, I don't care how normal they claim it to be. wasn't there when I bought the car. why should it be there now?

I just noticed mine started this past weekend. Groans once or twice if I'm turning, from a stop. Truly, an odd sound. Sounds kinda like there's a rubber squeegee back there.
It's at the dealer today to address the front wheels clicking on turns, and the front left speaker is crackling. I'm going to wait a little while longer on the diff. I want to narrow down exactly when it occurs.

Mine is back at the dealership to look at the issue again. It's been there two days and the service manager is still "investigating" the possible solution, since their first attempt at a fix was a failure (doing figure 8's in the parking lot).
They haven't tried changing the diff fluid yet, although I've suggested it several times.

This started happening to me after i got my first oil changed from the dealership. Freaked me out a little bit since it's never been heard. Only happens during a cold start or sometimes when I'm parked uphill. Will be calling my dealership about this info. Thanks to the forum I've found out the problem.

Good thing I read this today: I'm taking my car in for this exact issue and symptom's same as others explained - low noise coming from back for first couple of turns in the morning. Mine started doing this about 2 weeks ago. I had same problem with C6 and solution was flushing the diff fluid.

Does anyone know if GM issued a bulletin for this issue? Would my dealer's service department have info on this?

This problem doesn't get better. I didn't have it for first 1000 miles and now at 3K and cooler temps its taking longer and longer to warm up. I'm going to take it in to the dealer but I'm not too confident about a fix.
