the rear diff fluid on new cars need to be changed after a few thousand miles. We have seen this on every year of the camaro since 2010.

yeah, rarely are their leaks found and glad you caught it before it destroyed itself. When I changed mine out for the first time, it had about 6k miles on it and wow, lots of fine shavings in it. Then after that, pretty clean. Like when it was new and getting broken in, is when it all happened. So if you are getting a whole new one, after 5-8k miles, you may want to replace it.

And no issues since? How many miles since? Hopefully I'm still in warranty the next time.

Yeah I am doing the NCM track day, wouldn't have been fun to find out there was an issue then. I don't really want to test the truth to the "warrantied under track conditions" unless I have to.

Well craps still not going in my favor. The cars been the shop several time they've replaced fuses and wiring harnesses. Still have the cam sensor low voltage. Dealer says it's not the timing chains. They think it's an electrical issue somewhere. But it's pulling timing. The plus side it's sounds pretty beastly with the timing off. But it's random when I have power, I can hammer it and sometimes it absolutely takes off, and other times it revs up and does nothing. I'm a bit frustrated cause I don't have a whole lot of time before fest, especially if I have to end up getting it tuned.

no issues before and no issues since. I have since changed it a couple more times with HDPE events. But it has always looked good changing it after that first time. Seems like the first time you change the fluid is when those shavings show up, almost like a fine paste.

So it appears to be more of a break in like your first oil change. We had a great good of guys find this out back in 2010 when the cars were new then. I was in that group when we went through and changed the rear fluid in about 5 different cars at once, and all were about the same.

Yes, fest is practically here. Hopefully they can shake that out pretty quick and get you rolling. have you posted this information in other threads for some ideas?

Just realized you were talking about replacing the fluid and not the whole diff, which is what theyre doing on mine.

yes and you will want to change that fluid in the new diff for the same reason.

Gotcha. Think I should like after the NCM day? Or wait a few thousand miles?

I would wait a few thousand miles if it was me. Since it's just one event, but everyone is different. Maybe if the temps were hot at the fest and you pushed the car hard, maybe not wait to much after. But definitely get it done this year

Yeah I hope so. I've scoured through the treads and I haven't found anything directly related to the problem. I've poseted in a few treads, I'm actually sitting at the dealership right now. If I can't get it fixed today I'll make an independent thread.
