Talked with Mike. Great help! He narrowed it down to a missing cam heartbeat signal.

Looks like it's there intermittently so probably something wiring related.

I'll have to pull things apart this weekend and check that the terminal and wire is still seated in the ECU correctly.

Lack of cam heartbeat signal was traced to a bad connector on the main harness that plugs into the Reflex. Had intermittent connection on the pin for cam heartbeat.

I thought for sure i had messed up inserting the pin into the ecu, but that was all fine.

Started tracing back continuity and discovered the bad connection in the main harnes going to the Reflex.

Mike is sending a new harness. Had no issues with the support from Mike and team. Top notch!

Stuff happens sometimes, and prompt responses and quick turnaround from THPSI on getting a replacement was awesome.

Glad to know my sanity is in tact and i didnt imagine that it was working the first day!

Port injectors

What injectors are you guys choosing for your pi side. Fix, ID, size.

Mike and team overnighted me a new harness and I was able to get it all replaced this morning, plus a test run.

I'll post some more data when I get some time (I've neglected the non-mechanical part of the family enough this Easter already).

For now here's a graph of the test run from the Reflex point of view. This run is with my original tune where I pulled 10% out of PE in E92, and added it to MAF.

I'm just at stale E50 still from over the winter, and I had dropped my shift points down, so I'm not even wrapping it out yet.

Looks like it is doing what it is supposed to be doing now! Runs great. Needs a few percent fuel added in a couple places. I'll be mulling over those changes this week and maybe do a couple more test runs at this current level before I swap out the pulley.

NICE!!! I just wired mine in, but haven't updated the software or started running it yet. That is very good to see.

I've been looking over logs from HPT. I'm surprised how normal everything looks compared to pre-pi. Cyl airmass is down 20% of course (as perceived by ECU), and MAF lbs/min down 20% also by intent, along with injector pulse width. Again, I'm short shifting at around 6k, and only at E50, but ipw is around 3.5 to 4 ms. And remember I'm only down 20% instead of 30 because I pulled 10% PE and added that back to MAF. If I didnt then I'd be down 30% on those.

I'll need to shift spark down a little in the spark tables because the drop in ECU perceived cyl airmass is causing things to fall lower on the spark table where timing is higher. Effectively though, it doesnt spend any time in that .6 to .8 cyl airmass range at WOT anyway where timing is higher, so I'm not super worried about massaging that table yet. Under wot, it's still pretty much above the point where spark drops for the higher cyl airmas range.

It's difficult to talk about all the little nuance things I'll change, but in general... it looks like the method I used has worked out very well. Adjusting torque in the eq torque table appears to be making everything just "work" normally. No big deal.

So, long story short, I'll probably end up adding 5% to 8% fuel across a wide MAF range where the reflex indicated it was adding fuel to get things more in the ballpark, then pull 3-5 degrees of spark temporarily, and just go ahead and pulley down. I'll probably recombine the MAF values from the E92 and reflex, add the 5-8%, then re-split it between the two. I think that'll work up until (or IF) I start getting to the 5ms ipw when I use full E85. Then I'll prob start adding/adjusting only on the reflex side.

I'll do some short pulls with the new pulley and see where I'm at, then gradually raise spark and shift points until I get where I need to be.

I'll also need to project out the MAF curve further because the peak I've seen before was around 13kHz, and the MAF curve ramps steeply after that for safety, but with the reflex and lambda correction, I'm not too worried. The reflex would likely be pulling fuel in those areas because it'll be too rich based on the MAF curve. Given that roughly 30% fuel has been removed from DI, I'm not too worried about exceeding any IPW limits in those areas.

Overall this has been an enjoyable experience. I'm getting a much better understanding of tuning doing this for sure.

That sounds like a great strategy (not that you need validation from me), and safe. Something I wasn't thinking too much about was the CLOSED LOOP feature making some adjustments, so that's helpful, too.

What kind of nuances are you seeing? Is the CL-control helping out a bit with that?

KUDOS on your progress!!! I've learned a lot, and Thank You for sharing.

Regarding nuances. I didn't have anything in particular in mind when I said that, but I was going to take stock of the entire tune and get an idea of what tables reference things like cyl airmass, which has been skewed a bit because the same "real" load looks like less load to the ecu. Like the spark table for example.

But again, most of that falls within heavy part-throttle where I don't spend a bunch of time, and I haven't noticed any danger signs or driveability concerns.

I ASSUME the lambda compensation is doing its job. Not really wanting to turn it off at this point to test that until I know my fueling is closer.

Now that I think about it, in the Reflex log I should be able to go to the "lists" view and see inj pulse widths for PI pre-adjustment and post-adjustment.

I'll take a look later and post some details.
