No, ZL-1s were big block 427s that went in both Camaros and Corvettes. That isn’t a justification for changing the Z/28 again.

Giving the Z28 only what is needed trying to keep it a pure car was the problem with them sitting on lots new for 4 years , that's a fail . Make it the Halo car it should be and give it the best tech available, even if it's turbos or electric motors and AWD, Leave the past where it is , just remember one thing ,there are a lot more bad Z28 years then good .

It's 2019, build a bridge because they'll what anything they "want" to build and we are in the Camaro survival mode at this point so for all I care it could be a twin turbo 5.5 incher.

Why handicap yourselves with a limited torque capability transmission? That's only 14 lb/ft more than a ZL1.

Gen6_1LE is still missing where I said that I have no issue with an AWD performance car from GM. Use the Corvette/Camaro/Cadillac power, hybrid, whatever your heart desires - hell, make it a 2+2, just call it anything other than a Camaro.

I’m not missing anything, it’s just what you are saying is silly. I think you have been missing what has been said about Camaro , it’s in a process of evolution.Sadly people are thinking the next gen Camaro needs to look like a 3rd gen Camaro with split bumpers powered by a big block , that’s not going to happen. The 7th gen can’t look like any Camaro we have seen before, and will be powered differently then we have seen before, like it or not . GM won’t be adding another performance line when they are having trouble now selling. I want to see the Camaro move forward .

Let them. AWD is not needed to be fast on the track. It simply takes drag radials and the right suspension setup. When you can launch a rear wheel drive car with the front tires in the air, why add the extra weight and power robbing rotating mass of the drivetrain for the fronts? That's why you don't see these 10,000 plus hp drag cars running AWD. Plus AWD takes away a huge part of the fun of a sports car.....smoking tires and drifting when you're just out for a fun little joy ride.

I wouldn't mind electric assist along with some kind of boost (front or rear assist I don't care)

I don't want the added weight and complexity in a sports car. Maybe my opinion is invalid, but I own an AWD SUV, and previously owned 2 other AWD SUVs, an AWD Sedan, and an AWD Silverado SS w/650hp. No, I don't think a Camaro should get heavier and more complex with AWD. The fastest cars in the world - F1 and dragstrip - don't use it and I don't want it for either scenario either. I do like AWD for Canadian winters.
