Guess I'm not seeing the struggle. I didn't even pay half for parts you guys are quoting and my car gained HUGE at the strip from just a few bolt ons.

I'm very impressed with how my car has responded to mods

What mods have you done so far?

We did not quote any pricing, this is an informational thread, the parts list was selected by the customer, we did all the before and after testing at each stage to share the results with all of you so you can make educated decisions for your ride.

These tests don't always give the expected results, but they do educate us all on Real Results.

Ted.

It's all in my signature. Though I went just about as fast with a pray ported stock intake manifold over my ported msd. It's a far more cost effective option. I would only advise an msd if it's ported and or going heads/cam in the future.

Ted.
It wasn't directed to you or your business. Just some of the posts in the thread in general. Sorry for any confusion

I been reviewing and adding up the cost for certain mods and it seems if you are going to do mods then going Supercharger seems the best bang for your buck if you calculate HP gains per dollar spent.

By the time you do a CAI, ported Throttle body, Headers with new exhaust, msd manifold and a few other mods that will run you close to 5k with around or under 100hp gain.

If you send 8 to 10k and get a supercharger you can gain 150.

these are all estimated numbers .

food for thought

Cai 450. PTB 150. Headers with connection pipes into stock exhaust 1000. Ported stock manifold 350. E85 with tuning etc ~1000. Installed myself

3 grand. Add in another two grand for drag pack which any car will need for effective 1/4 and that's another 2k.

You can run bottom 11s with 3 grand in parts plus 2k for drag pack. Or go the cheaper route be slightly slower and find some 18s for the rear and a good DR for about a grand. Low 11s can be had for about 4K with a budget build with an A8

Me too. And while you can have a fast car with out spending a ton of dough, every supporting mod adds up from there and can better support H/C.

And for all the work Ted has performed and shared with us honestly does it make sense to diss on Ted's thread?

Even though your car is faster than mine being an M6 I bet my SS sounds more bad-a$$. And when I want it can sound more like stock.

I think we have essentially the same exhaust besides you have cats? Different brand of headers.

I've still got my NPP. It's pretty quiet when closed.

I'm not trying to diss on this thread at all. Just sharing my thoughts on some things

Oops, I misunderstood.

Then your car is faster, sounds just as good and you spent the bucks like me.

Later on I got there with this same setup + 20" NT555Rs on 20x11 wheels.

11.824 @ 118.48 with a DA of -351. I think with more seat time and 11.7 would have been possible but now I have more mods, so that is my best with this setup.

I think these cars are responding very well with simple bolt-ons. Just like 4th gens, you can knock a second off your quarter mile without getting into the engine or using a power adder. The caveat is this is 2017 and the parts cost more. Not just for 6th gens either, I put full Kooks exhaust on my 4th gen z28 back in 2011 and I paid almost a grand less then what it costs today.

That 1 second is for A8s. With M6es so far you can only get about 1/2 that. Gearing and launching ghost issues hold us back. To get the full second we need cam/heads.

Most of the cost problem is slow sales of the Camaro = slow sales for the after market. ARH so far won't build an NPP catback to go with my long system. We have asked. I even offered up my car.

That is why I bought the A8.

Aftermarket looks decent to me. I see multiple supercharger options, header exhaust combos, along with cai systems. There is even several companies offering their own cnc program for the heads and several cam choices...not to mention porting services for the Intake and TB.

Again....Parts have increased across all platforms. Exhaust for the 6th gen is not that expensive unless you are trying to retain NPP...It cost me 1900.00 to put Kooks 1 7/8 headers and 3" kooks True Duals on my 4th gen in 2011. Now that exhaust setup cost another 5-600.00. There are other companies offering more budget solutions such as speed engineering, but the fit and finish is not Kooks quality.
