Like I said, the entire concept of Pontiac is shoveling money into a pit and lighting it on fire.
Much like Ford axing Mercury imo. There was not enough to justify a difference.

Yep, I see a Buick on every street in the neighborhood. NOT! You can't blame redundancy on a name but on the bean counters who caused it. GM completley lost their way once they began swapping engines from one brand to the next. The ls is the exception as it appears to have had alot of money poured into it. Sorry, I couldn't tell the difference between a Buick or Hyundai or Honda on the freeway if I tried. Just obstacles in traffic to me. Many decades ago Buick built a Grand National which is easily distinguishable from other brands. That was an anomoly for Buick other than the few mid/late 60's A body stuff.

GM had nothing to do with that, it was the entire industry. Ford did the same with Mercury and Lincoln. Chrysler did the same with Dodge, Jeep, and Plymouth. Ford axed Mercury, Chrysler axed Plymouth all for the similar reasons GM killed Saturn and Pontiac. You are making points that apply throughout the automotive world. Companies want to turn a profit. R&D costs have grown exponentially since the 70's thanks to emissions and safety standards. I know where you are coming from, but honestly things will not change. No use reminiscing about the good ole days.

Live in the past if you want. Those days are over and done with. Much like Pontiac, thank god.

I always though the last few years of the Trans Am they got to looking kind of Cartoonish and like an old Sikorsky Helicopter in the front.

You must be forgetting how close a Monte Carlo and Regal looked in the mid 80s

GM's actions ruined Pontiac.
No not really. Customers lack of spending caused GM to have less money to spend on differ testimony leading to even fewer customers.

Pontiac like Oldsmobile had its time in the sun..........and it set.

Plus the Cutlass and Grand Prix. The joys of badge engineering.

The Grand Prix, Olds Cutlass, Monte Carlo and Buick Regal (Grand National) were practically the same car with different grills and tail lights... Even the interiors were almost the same.
