LOL.... Now that I think about it the first Gen is generalizing! So yea, false but I said 1st Gen because the 69 is a first Gen! But you are right about the 67-68 ! So maybe I should've been more specific !

Its possible, but unlikely.
Really a C7 Z51 is that heavy? If that is true there would have to be some serious black magic to make a V-8 camaro weigh only 100 pounds more

Yes, but only by a few inches.

69 186"L x 74"W x 51.1H. It's actually lower than the 67/68, but only .3"

Sounds like an inhibitively expensive Camaro.

True! Which is crazy because the 69 is a first Gen! You will never see a company do that ! Making two different size two door or four door of that Gen! I wonder what was the cost difference? That should be interesting!

Times have changed. Back then typically did a refresh every year and it was a big deal to go the local dealer to see the new model year reveals. They didnt start doing 5+ year model runs until the late 70's if I recall.

That V6 seems slow in the quarter, but it is faster than a stock SS350.

Oh, alright! I can believe that! Because I remember the chevelle changed a few times in the early 70's I love the taillights of the 71 and the headlights of the 70 chevelle! It's hard to choose between those two but I'm leaning towards the. 71 because i love the circle taillights !

The sheet metal and trim changed annually (generally), but the chassis structures were more likely to change much more slowly. Examples:

Camaro-Firebird
Gen 1 - '67-'69
Gen 2 - '70-'81
Gen 3 - '82-'92
Gen 4 - '93-'02

Malibu
Gen 1 - '64-'67
"Gen 2" - '68-'72 (although some commonality '64-'72)
Gen 3 - '73-'77
Gen 4 - '78-'87 ('88 for Monte Carlo)

Generations are gauged by chassis-platform commonality.

And YES, those were exciting times when the "fresh" models showed up the latter part of September each year! Grab the brochures and devour them for all the latest-newest cool options-features-colors!

Either way, there is no denying that the new car pretty much dwarfs the old.

'67 Camaros were 184" Long.

Compare a Gen-5 Camaro SS to a '69 Malibu SS 396 2-dr, fully loaded (Gen-5 in brackets):

L - 196.9 (192.3)
W - 76.0 (76.9)
H - 52.2 (52.4)
WB - 112.0 (112.3)

With Full Power (St/DiBr/Wi/Lo), A/C, Buckets & Console, 4-speed, AM/FM/Tape, it's Curb weight was 3836...similar to a '14 Z/28.

YES, the Gen-5 Camaros are THAT BIG!

Will we get a Gen-6 that's closer to the First Gen in size? Let's hope so...

I read on the mustang6 website that the GT has gained 100lbs. They've got the dealer info up now.
