just put a Vette Z06 against the Hellcat and that will pretty much sum it up.

Yeah plenty of those match ups on you tube. Some the Z06 wins some the hellcat wins. The new ZL1 with the 10spd will change things a lot though.

Mainly roll racing on the highway from what I've seen.

That's what I thought. Roll racing has waaaaayyyyy to many variables to be scientific. In another words take it with a grain of salt.
BTW at a track or drag strip using the same pro driver on the same day a Z06 will "always" win.

I agree from a standstill the Z06 and the new ZL1 with the 10 spd auto will win. When roll racing, weight doesn't have as much of a factor as it does when standing still.

It's gearing and HP.

I really don't think the 10 spd is going to provide much if any benefit in a straight line over the outgoing transmissions. There's only so much gearing the engine really needs when it's making so much torque.

There's a reason cars that go 0-60 in two gears do it quicker than those that need a third shift. There's a point to where the additional gearing doesn't do much, ESPECIALLY on a high torque engine. A Honda or something else with a small power band definitely needs all the gearing it can get, but a SC 6.2 making 640 tq, not so much.

And remember the 10 speed has only one extra power gear than the 8. We aren't talking about enough gear changes to hurt. And you can't deny that the A8 cars from every manufacturer run faster than their manual equivalents. Will it make 4 tenths, not a chance. Will it improve by a tenth or two over the 8L90. Quite possible. But I do believe this new 10 speed is more about the track and squeezing MPG higher than anything. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
