I have to admit...I didn't know there was a third version of the GT350. I assumed Ford would have put all the cooling/track equipment on the standard version of the car...interesting that they did not.

Thanks for that.

Seems to me that the obvious head-to-head should be a GT350TP vs a 1SS/1LE. And I think the 1LE could handily win that comparison at $12,000 less...

Another reason for magnetic suspension on the 1LE (optional)

It's the same situation with my motorcycles... one is an air cooled 1200cc twin that redlines at 9,500RPM and the other is a liquid cooled 600cc I4 that redlines at 17,000RPM. Funny thing, acceleration up to 70MPH is nearly identical between the two bikes - but I know which one I'd rather have for daily riding or cruising around vs spirited riding in the twisties or track duty.

Higher RPM engines not only provide more HP, which is irrelevant if the higher torque motor is designed well; but they increase what I like to call the sampling rate of throttle position. Think of it this way - whenever you change the throttle position, besides all the electronic BS, the engine takes a few milliseconds to adjust itself to the change. The faster it's spinning and the more cylinders there are, the faster that change is registered. Your brain waits for these changes, and in cars that have a slight delay you end up over correcting for something the engine would have gotten around to... it's not a huge difference, but it's definitely there and makes spirited driving/riding a lot more enjoyable.

I've gotta say the gt350 is a heck of a car and if one with a track or tech package could be had in the low 50's it would be on the radar. They are currently 65k+ and none can be found without one of the two packages.

I certainly believe that a 1SS manual could keep with 2 seconds of the non R version on a 2 minute course, we will have to see once more lap times come in for both cars.

More than likely they kept all the cooling optional to keep the MSRP down, which I think is kind of lame.

Right? They've got the GT for cheap V8-ness...this is their track car, for goodness sake.

And the MagneRide. I wonder if it is that critical to the cars handling. I mean most of the other suspension stuff is on the PP and it isn't spectacular in comparison.

I guess they had to make cuts somewhere to get the 5.2 in a $50k car.

That's a good point. I wonder how the GT350 base would do vs a GT350TP.

Here is an example of the misleading base MSRP from M6G. He thinks the base GT350 is track ready but, then again, also thinks a 1SS 1LE would also need additional brake upgrade and MRC.

Another example of someone assuming you need MRC and 6 pistons to compete against a base GT350. More like a GT350TP, but then he would have to explain how 5.2 is worth another $10k.

Right! While not realizing the base GT350 doesn't have MRC

I'd love to swap my 5 spoke wheels for those 10 spoke. They look good in my opinion.
