Hell I’ve seen cars that have the factory suitcase but are missing the two support beams that attach from the rear crash bar to the inside of the lower diffuser. Diffuser goes flapping on the highway

Oh stop. There are plenty of "racers" on this forum that don't worry about that "parachute effect".

Smile CA smog check

I hope this may help someone else.

Earlier this week I finally got my car ready and it passed its first smog check.

The battery had been replaced a few months ago and recently I replaced a defective harness inside the transmission (temp sensor error).
Apparently I had not put enough of the "right" drive cycles on it since then to set 6 of the monitors.

I have a factory service manual for it (2017 MY) and located the required "drive cycle".
It was about as clear as mud on a moonless night and reads something like standing on your head in a dark corner while chanting "la la la" and rubbing your stomach anti-clockwise.
This was clearly written for someone with free access to a test track or a roller treadmill rack, and not for real people in real world traffic on real roadways.

After researching what others had made of it, I distilled it down to the attached "FSM IM readiness drive cycle".
After running through the whole procedure twice, repeating steps 7-14 as noted once, 4 of the 6 monitors completed.

The O2 sensor diagnostic and EVAP diagnostic remained incomplete, as is a very common complaint on this forum.

For them I did the attached procedure "GM O2 and EVAP", which had been posted by someone else on this forum a while back.
The O2 diagnostic completed on the first try.
However, even after repeating it the EVAP would not complete.

So then I tried again using the noted "alternative second part" in the attachment (no stop and go traffic).
For that I only warmed the car up from cold just enough to stabilize the engine.
I then drove it at moderate speeds (30-45mph) to reach the highway which took care of the first step.
The gas tank was about half full, by the way.
Then I drove approximately 15 miles at highway speeds with a couple of 5-10 second no-gas-pedal coasts.
I turned around at the next available exit without shutting it off and drove back home with a couple more coasts in the process.
I then let it idle for 4 minutes before shutting it off.
The highway coasts were not down to "less than 20mph" by the way, as some procedures dictate.
Around here that would have caused an accident for sure.
Just- foot off the pedal completely, no brakes for at least 2 seconds (per the procedure).

A few hours later I checked and the EVAP monitor had finally completed..!

Obviously I can only tell you what worked for my particular car.
But hopefully it will help someone else.

Oh, and no matter what the DMV/BAR website says, you have to have ALL monitors complete to pass smog testing around here (I asked).

FWIW...

The drive cycle process is a mess. I had to do it last year in Missouri. My battery drained too low and reset the system. Having driven the car normally for a few hundred miles before inspection time apparently did nothing. I had to spend two weeks dorking around trying to get the drive cycle procedure to work.

Yes, that is more or less what was happening to me as well.
Even with the "simplified" drive cycle I posted it didn't solve everything.
For this reason I kept searching and eventually found the O2/EVAP-specific procedure.
That one actually made a lot more sense to me, and in the end it worked.
Thankfully...

And yes, California is a gigantic mess.

Finally changed out my upper seat skin.
I will chase intermittent shorts and dead can bus problems all day and never complain, i absolutely hate doing interior work.
