Stellantis just countered at 14.5% raise, none of it with cash payments like Ford and GM, and $10,500 in inflation payments. Since Fain tore up the last Stellantis offer and threw it in the trash - maybe he will light this one on fire? Can't wait to see how he turns this one down!

I’m all in on raises and enhanced medical and retirement plans. But as a case in point, some of us here are much older Camaro 6 buyers and haven’t had a raise in years and years. My pension was frozen in 2006 and social security is talking about 3% for next year. My 2024 is built but sitting now for 4 weeks waiting to be shipped. So let’s all be sensible cause this country is already circling the drain. There has to be give and take.

What is implied is a message. UAW don’t over do it. Be reasonable and sane about what you’re asking for. I’m an older baby boomer and have learned to tighten my belt when it comes to raises, benefits, etc. Auto workers, while very important, can’t lose reasonable perspective. And that’s coming from a Union guy. I realize Mary and the brass are earning mega bucks . Thank the crazy board for that. But somehow, they got or earned a lucrative position and line employees Just have to live with that.

The key part that the UAW doesn't want to talk about is their complete failure to unionize other automakers. If the big 3 wants to compete with Tesla, why hasn't the UAW signed up Tesla? If Ford has to pay it's employees twice what they make at Tesla, how do they compete against the cybertruck with the E-F150? If the UAW really wants these big numbers, they need the whole industry to buy in. They get them to do that by getting them all unionized. -Geoff

This is standard behavior on both sides during contract negotiations. Things will be pretty intense during the next couple of days, with a lot of give-and-take in small steps, although Fain’s demeanor indicates he wants a strike. However, this morning there was a new rumor that if a strike is called, it only may be against one of the three OEMs. Stay tuned for more surprises!

LOL. The UAW is only at slightly over double the highest offer now. If they came down to 20%, they might have a chance of not striking.

Hello, so if targetting all 3 automakers simultaneously, bottlenecking seems to be the most logical move for Fain. The #1 target being discussed is Romulus Powertrain. It produces the A10 and V6 for the Camaro(along with other nameplates). If this does happen, then the Lansing GR plant could theoretically still crank out LT1 V8 6M's, and still have truck shipments, right? Or am I just too darn optimistic?

If the UAW targets production plants, they will be targeting high volume trucks and SUV'S. They just can't afford to target every plant at all 3 for very long.

agree. There is no such thing as targeting one plant. A strike is a strike is a strike. The "brotherhood" will not tolerate 1 plant not working. 1 goes, they all go
