Chevy definitely needs better marketing for the LT1, I didn't know it even existed until mid December, and I signed my lease on Dec 31.

The lease deals were so insane it was hard to say no. My LT1 msrp was $39,470 and I got it for under $270/mo sign and drive. I priced out a low optioned 1SS with lower msrp and the payment was in the $475/mo range.

Now if I was purchasing, then yes I'd take the 1SS over the LT1 in a heartbeat.

There is a horizontal cooler dead center, under, and in front of the radiator on my 2021 A10 LT1, what else could it be for? I have not studied the plumbing to see where it goes, but I can If you would like.

Check your RPO codes on the build sheet (I don’t think the newer cars have the decals anymore). My ‘16 SS lists KD1 as “Cooler, transmission oil” as one of the components. Could be a different RPO on the newer models, but the build sheet lists each one by code and description.

Email to socialmedia@gm.com with your VIN and request the build sheet if you want it, you’ll get it within a day.

Chevrolet Parts Direct shows a separate oil cooler.

PN- 22960693

Fits all Camaro non-supercharged applications

My LT1 A10 has the transmission cooler according to my build sheet. The build sheet also said I had an engine oil cooler too. All the other cooling however is not there and only available on the 1SS or higher trims like the diff cooler. The Manual transmission from what I read in the LT1 does not have a cooler.

What’s the RPO on the build sheet? Still KD1?

That’s engine. What’s it list for transmission?

My engine oil cooler is also KC4, so codes probably haven’t changed.

No doubt. Look what Ford does. GT, Shelby GT500, Bullit, Mach 1. Those names have a lot more going for them than. LT1, 1SS, 2SS, 1LE. Where is the Z28?

We need non V8's to be Camaros, period.

Some level of upgrades gets you to the RS, but it's not a V8.

The LT1 should be pretty much what it is, but without the speed limiter, and with better tires and should be called an SS with a little more attention on marketing what SS stands for.

The SS 1LE should be tuned up just a bit for a few more horses and a bit more torque and be the Z28. Maybe a focus on the odd circumstances of the Z28 designator.

ZL1 stays the same.

I think those are a lot easier to market than the insanity they currently have. 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, wth? Nothing wrong with the cars mind you, just the stupid designators.

The LT1 can get the RS trim now. I do not know if you can make an RS/SS like ye olden days

GM should make SS wheels/tires an option on the LT1.
The 245's are like being on an ice skating rink.

Took possession of my 2021 LT1 November 20, 2020. Drove the car 5400 miles since then (all winter and spring) . I have been practicing on the street WOT pulls from a 20- 25 mph roll in second gear (in manual mode A10). Tires are warmed on cold sunny days by driving 5- 10 miles, black top warmed by the sun by noon hour, warmed tire pressure 27 lbs. The car will dead hook even on 45 - 50 sunny days. Actually took the car to the drag strip 1 week ago, did a easy 2.0 60ft and ran 12.0 on the stock 245 all season tire. Will a SS be any better? maybe on the but certainly not better on the street
