Well I stopped by the dealer to check out my car. They said it had 3 spun bearings and cylinder wall was scored so they're replacing the engine. They said GM has engines readily available and will find out tomorrow how long it will take to get one here...

![]() wow, that second pic with the car ripped apart... dang I can't believe a dealer would do that extensive a project on a brand new car.... It seems like GM should have specialized "repair center" for something this extreme. seem like good chance GM would be buying this back after all is done. |

Geesh...if their best mechanic did the repairs, I would have a hard time believing he or she can even drop in a new motor. At the looks of his tear down area, I get no warm fuzzys that he can drop a new engine in!

Nice that you get a new motor. Got my fingers crossed for you that it gets installed without any problems. I'll be looking forward to some good news updates.

Let's not get our two blown engine threads mixed up here. Lol. One is getting a new engine, the other got a failed rebuild.

I'm already speaking with GM. They escalated the issue to them the first time because it was so rare. They denied me a new car or refund and a brand new engine that I asked for after they denied me the first time.

Well if that was done to my car, the tow truck would be called to take it to a bigger and bettter trained GM shop. I don't like strike 3.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bad luck rickster, I hope you can get a buybuck or a new car out of this. Such crap that they wouldn't replace the engine after what they found...

So how many failed engines have people had on this forum. There appears to be two just in this thread??
At least in the pics above they removed the engine the proper way, out the bottom. That's how my buddy and I do Challengers at his shop when we upgrade, etc. Super easy and you just have to be careful with electrical plugs and coolant lines, etc. New one will go in from the bottom as well. OP, this is nuts. Failed engine they attempted a repair, and it failed within 10 minutes of leaving the shop. UN REAL. |
