The E-ROD was a crate motor that was emissions legal. Maybe the new LT1 based crate motor could be also. This new LT5 DOHC 6.2 could have a lot of potential for some serious top end horsepower. |

Yeah since the 1990 ZR1 was powered by the LT5 makes sense the next ZR1 be powered by the new LT5. But the new LT5 is not forced induction according to the info we have read so not sure. The LT5 would need to be supercharged or TC to make the power they are after or the rumored 700+ hp for the next ZR1.

The C7 ZR1 might be a stripped out n/a car to replace the Z06. If it is a 6.2 DOHC, it could make a lot of power. The AMG 6.2 V8 made 622 hp n/a.

That's a chapter you will want to read. When the LT5 came out, I was a young mechanical designer/car nut going to night school. I remember well a big article about its tech in one of the engineering magazine in the office. American muscle car enthusiast had never seen anything like it before and that 385 HP rating was shocking for the time when a LT1 made 245 HP

Pretty easy to make an emissions compliant crate engine when its exactly the same as an engine from an emissions complaint car. Its a very interesting one. It involves Lotus & Mercury Marine.

Speculation/opinions on MSN regarding the LT5. The article was based on the same guide that Bhobbs posted here so nothing new that we haven't seen yet.

Would a DOHC 90* V8 even fit in the alpha engine bay? If it does turn out to be a DOHC, it may not end up in the Camaro.
