The button by the shifter will select touring, sport, track, rain/ice settings and apply all those settings to your steering, exhaust, and suspension. Kinda like a preset. I think the rain/ice one might only be if you have the eLSD that is standard the 1LE or ZL1 though. For example, if you use the button by the shifter to put it in the track preset, then on the 1LE your steering is set to track, NPP exhaust is in track (loud) mode, and suspension for MRC dampers are set to track mode (firm). This is great if you want everything adjusted quickly. But say you like the steering kinda agressive (sport), you like the exhaust loud (sport or track...seems the same) but you're on a bumpy road for the next hour and you'd like your MRC suspension to be a little softer than track mode (comfort/touring or sport). To change just one part you go into the menu on the radio and can adjust it individually. Hope this helps.

Menu overrides the presets (auto-select) - the menu vanishes because the head unit is garbage. But happens from time to time when you remote start the car - only time i've seen it is with remote starts.

Dealer replacing my head unit as part of the bulletin. I’ll report back after my own testing

Add me to the list. I contacted chevy service in this thread. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out for us as it is a nice feature to be missing.

On my lemon before I got it swapped out last week I had this issue. I did get the radio replaced and it reduced the frequency from almost daily to once a month but it still occurred. I noticed what triggered it for me was opening the passenger door before starting the car.

I believe this is true as well…that it only happens when you remote-start the car. I was experiencing the problem intermittently. It wasn’t really a problem for me as I don’t switch modes very often and have Fuse #51 pulled.

But I was curious, so I decided to test a theory. I was thinking the issue was happening because of timing. More specifically, I was thinking that if I remote-started the car before the car was fully awake, it might cause a miss of some of the startup sequence steps and therefore not display the driving mode menu and other associated menus that seem to be missing when this happens.

So, I started following a regular ritual Every time I remote-started my car for the last three weeks. Rather than just hitting the lock button and then hitting the remote start, I would fully unlock the car by hitting the unlock button twice, then I would lock the car with the lock button, then remote start. I ran this test for a good 3 weeks, with flawless results. I have not lost the driving mode once, nor any of the temp settings etc. in that time.

It’s working for me, hope it works for some of you! It’s not a fix, but it really helps avoid an annoying problem consistently.

happened to me as well. then my car went into security mode or something and none of the electronics worked at all. shut it off for a few minutes and restarted it and everything has been fine ever since.

I haven't followed this topic since March or so... and this still hasn't been resolved? 17-NA-186 still doesn't have an actual repair procedure? I never got mine fixed.

Check out my temp-fix above. I'm still doing it and it's still working for me 100% of the time!

I'm surprised I haven't seen reactions from others trying this too. Anyone...? Bueller...?

Seems like that would be a clue for the software guys!

I've not checked for Driving Mode lately, but will start looking again.

When I had my '16 2SS/A8; I've had the driving mode setting disappear once in a while, and I never remote started my car ever. Whenever it did disappear, by the time I'd go home from work after sitting all day, the setting was back on the screen.

Nice work! Not a horrible work around.. doesn't really add any time or inconvenience. I wonder if locking the vehicle via the onstar remote app, then remote starting would have the same effect?

It's not always a remote start issue, my car doesn't have remote start and it's happened 2 times that I know of. I don't change my settings much so it could be happening more than I'm aware of. I'll try the service bulletin on page 9 of this thread. It does seem to fix itself after a short shut down time.
