Great minds think alike.

That's definitely most of it, the SS today would be rated 550+ back in the 60s and 70s.

You're fast... I was searching for the article to complete my post and by the time I found it you posted it.

Lol, I had just looked at that article the other day for some reason so it was fresh in my mind.

There is a huge nostalgic misconception or remembering of muscle cars back then, like 45 years of technology advancements hasn't made it obsolete.

The 72' 454 is not even the same engine. The big daddy 70' 454 was an LS6 engine. The LS5 in 72' had emmissions equipment added and compression was lowered to 8:5.

That's possible I don't keep up with what year had what engine from older muscle cars. The article I posted had them dyno an LS6 Chevelle and it put down 288 rwhp which gives it about a 350 hp rating which would be about right if you take away that gross horse power rating they used before 72.

Now your comeback?
The race doesn't end at 60mph. And with just a good set of current tires would drop those times by a good margin.

Not superior at all....maybe you have seen how internet drag racers do at the track.

It's about Summit White being the best Camaro paint scheme. There's a reason for it being the longest running.

Mods moved the thread to the V6 forum. This thread has nothing to do with the v6. That issue was settled in the first 2 pages. We're into the weeds with no way out now.

Those #s are useless in the real world. This is how they were tested. Those cars may as well had been tested in the rain. Spins all through 1st gear.
