I find it kind of funny and a sign of the times how polarizing EVs are. Seems like we've become a bi-polar nation. I find the instant torque of EVs to be an amazing experience. The whole "Push you back into your seat" experience that we all love is amazing in EVs and yet so many of us act as if EVs are an assault on our way of life.
I mean, I do understand some of the angst, but I guess I know the writing is on the wall and I am not one to pick battles that I know are lost. Having said that, it doesn't mean that I can't hang onto some of the things that make driving an "analog" car a joy to drive. Not being able to modify an EV the way I can modify my ICE vehicle is going to be odd, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that thought dealing with OBII instead of dealing with a carburetor was blasphemous. We evolve, we advance, we cope. I wonder if when man learned how to create fire, if the other cavemen were as skeptical and pessimistic. Oh and full disclosure I just got into an EV (the cheapest version) but I also have my ICE and have a more potent ICE on order, so I'm not ready to let go of my ICE but I'm also dipping one toe into the EV realm. |

There are people in this thread that fall everywhere in this spectrum: I'm farther to the left, although not on the extreme end, otherwise I'd be on Tesla #2 or 3 by now. I've always been this way in my life. Anyone who thinks EVs aren't going to be the future are to the right. It's pretty simple. You have options: ultimately accept it when you're ready to - that is to say, the "thing" you need to happen that makes EVs worth it, be it charging speed, range, weight, whatever - or come kicking and screaming.

Curious what that has to do with anything... Please enlighten me? So you are more into Tech/future because you own a Pixel? And if you are going to try to use my words against me, please at least quote me correctly... I never said "I was afraid"... I said I shy away and I explained why... Last edited by jamala00; 01-07-2022 at 05:51 PM. |

So, as with phones, until you feel "safe", you won't be stepping toward EVs at all until you are ready. It's fine. Like I said before, everyone has a breaking point. You'll find yours eventually. And it's relevant because claiming that EVs will be incapable of having soul and emotion in their driving, is no different than people being skeptical about the horseless carriage.

I'm not making assumptions about you... I simply stated a fact. Your "opinion" about a particular vehicle is not proof... Not when you have never owned it, driven it, etc... Anyway... Carry On, let everyone know the error of their ways/thoughts... |

My point remains the same: everyone falls somewhere on the spectrum I posted earlier in the thread. You are not "wrong", nor am I "right" - I'm just quicker to adopt this particular inevitable outcome, it seems. As I've said elsewhere, enjoy your ICE while you can, just as I will.

Sorry... If I took this thread even more off topic... It's about 2024 Rumors.. Not EV's... And I even hate EV threads/conversations and usually try to stay out of them. My Bad..

I mean, that is what they said early on but I think they may have changed their minds now that they have become profitable. They keep breaking their delivery own records each quarter, even with the supply chain challenges. They delivered 308,000 vehicles in Q4 and have more plants coming online. Whether you like Tesla or not, it is hard not to be impressed with what they have accomplished from a business perspective. They are a scrappy company with a lot of fight and passion and they have truly disrupted the industry.

![]() When I am on the Camaro forum and touch on EV driving experiences comparison, etc. it will ignite a lot of emotion. ![]() Personally, I see the benefits of both and own both. Right now, there are no "affordable" EV drivers cars. The Model 3 is quick and handles like a BMW but as other have mentioned it lacks a drivers cockpit or any sort of visceral feel that you get from a performance ICE vehicle but it is a sedan that was built for the masses so they can sell a bunch of them. Eventually, we will see EV performance cars for enthusiast like us, probably from Dodge first in the 2024/2025 timeframe. They will built something that has the styling we like and it will go like a bat out of hell and probably let you pick from a number of exhaust notes and blast it through an 18 speaker Harmon Kardon sound system. ![]() My guess is that GM eventually will build something like the discontinued SS sedan in EV form. Probably in multiple trims to hit the right price points and appeal to a wider range of customers. I envision a 4-door sedan with dual motors, 400 mile range, Magride tech, multiple large screens, Brembos, etc. It will probably accelerate like crazy but unless they implement some sort of 2-speed transmission, relax the nannies and allow you to send all the torque to the rear wheels it will drive similar to a Tesla. GM will also need to implement drive modes including a track mode if they want anyone to really drive the car. Anyway, interesting times ahead.
