very hard to read and understand. I had 2 runs nothing but cat back.
242 in 5th and 269rwhp in 4th gear. 5th is supposed to be 1 to 1 gear ratio but hits speed limiter so I'm not seeing the gains I would expect. I would hope for 299 -300 wit CAI and tune.

Well yeah I agree. Well I think it would be more than bolt on parts to get 300 + the engine would need forced induction.
I read one person got 277 hp and 259ish tq on a stock A8 v6. So what's up?

if you get 30 with the CAI and tune, I would expect to see 299 - 300 especially since I'm doing a dyno tune with HPtuners. I would be very diappointed if I only got 7-8 additional. A friend of mine told me to run colder plugs so i can get more timing as well., an old lS trick.

There is a YouTube Video of a 2014 after HPtuners tune no CAI just exhaust it sounds like 317rwhp.

The cold air intake was on both times right?

I had the intake on for the baseline without the GM tune that came with the cai. The engine was compensating with way too much fuel and made the car run pig rich, which showed on the 1st run. Im not entirely sure why the dyno reads such low power though.

Yeah I'm going to take it to a different dyno and see what that gives me

I think it should be more around 290 or 299 hp with the CAI, because it increases air flow volume by a lot. The stock hp is around 279, so it would make perfect sense that it goes up to 290 or 299. Don't you guys this so?

Did you ever rerun your car on a dyno?

What's the point in caring about the absolute numbers on a dyno? Just look at the difference and call it a day. The numbers aren't calibrated scientifically via some accepted standard measurement organization. Each one is different. Taking it to multiple dynos until you get a reading that you expect is wasting your money.

Did it get better? yes/no? That's about all dynos are good for. If you want absolute numbers that matter, you need to take it to a track.

I got mine installed last week.

PS Don't forget it comes with a little Chevrolet Performance Emblem, The tech who installed mine forgot to put it back in the box with everything else.

As others have said...depends on the dyno. Some of these V6s have dyno'd at only 240-something rwhp. Others have dyno'd 270+ rwhp.

So you should not really go to any dyno with a very specific expectation, b/c there is a good chance you will be disappointed, unless you've ran on that dyno several times before and you have a good idea of what to expect. I don't think anyone should "expect" 290 - 300rwhp out of this engine with just an intake only.

That said, I think its perfectly possible with enough bolt ons (if they ever become available) and a good tune, for an M6 to break the 300rwhp barrier. Intake, high flow cats/exhaust, ported T/B, ported intake and tune should do the trick, or get damn close. We got close on the 5th gen V6, but it never officially happened on the forum.
