When I see these wheels in person come May, I'll decide then. They look pretty good.

There are some really great RWD supercars out there, by the way. See: Z/28...Stingray/Z06...and the Ferrari Italia, to name just a few. I don't want an AWD Camaro, fwiw. There's something....visceral about RWD that I love. An attitude, and driving feel that I would miss, and would make the Camaro not feel like a Camaro anymore. Back on topic....anybody notice how they cleverly photoshopped out the tire size from the sidewall on that picture? Also...no, I didn't read the whole thread...anybody notice those are Goodyear Asymmetric 2 RunOnFlat tires? And this business about the car being 25% stiffer than the current one...HOLY $#!T!!!! That's a really really big deal, because this car is already built like a tank. |

I was wondering about what car you drive also. The only AWD car I've driven is a Jeep SRT8 and I still have a older Jeep, so I know how AWD can be a benefit. However in sports cars I like RWD. Is the fun factor that much better? I know a V8 AWD would be a game changer in a Camaro and always thought about one since I was 15. However I don't think it's the time for it.

I would recognize these BS posts anywhere. Everyone, say hi to "TTC6", one of his many screen names. He spends all day...every day, joining GM forums to do nothing but knock GM cars saying how far behind they are because they don't have DCT, AWD and whatever else he decided that day. He has been banned from just about every forum, multiple times, because he is a TROLL. I can't remember the exact reason he wastes his and our time, but the reason is out there somewhere. If GM doesn't offer what you want, move on to your inferior imports ![]() ![]() |

Looks like he forgot about C5 for about 5 years. Must've gotten banned from every other forum.

People keep throwing around AWD a bit too much.....
A straight AWD system doesn't belong anywhere near a performance vehicle, you get the added weight of the AWD system (which can be from 100-200 pounds). You get the added inertia on the drive train (higher drive train loss), you wouldn't be able to institute AWD on the Camaro without raising the center of gravity for it. What makes modern AWD systems even possible on high performance cars is for them to have the ability to be RWD cars in those situations where being an AWD car sucks. Not only that as far as when AWD is most beneficial is in a straight line, great if all you do is drag race. Looking at the Nissan GTR, yes the car is fast in a line with its 545-600BHP power level and AWD gives it some insane 0-60 times. However remember the Z/28 Camaro runs a faster lap time then the Nissan GTR track edition... it was also picked as Motor Trends best drivers car over the GTR Nismo for a reason. In other words nothing is ever so cut and dry, if they made a RWD only Nissan GTR it would corner faster. Though with the current AWD system it pulls out of corner hard with its ability to put its power to the ground. At the end of the day it all comes down to what a manufacturer wants to build, and what the customers want to buy. |
