Wait till he has to deal with that turbo lag... MotorTrend's review. Real world, may pick up 5mpg improvement?
Below 3,000 rpm, there’s little power available due to a prodigious amount of turbo lag, but once it gets going, there’s plenty to work with. Rev the car above 5,000 rpm, though, and all you’re making is noise because it loses steam. Switch the drive mode selector over to Sport, and you get slightly improved responses from the engine and throttle, but the turbo lag is still there. Keep the car in its sweet spot between 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, and you’ll be able to get the most out of it.

Thanks everyone, like I said I loved my camaro but it was getting 17 and the ecoboost is getting 26 (both with a normal amount of heavy right foot) the ecoboost does have 3.55 and to be honest I don't think I can go without doing some mods to it but I feel like I have a few mpgs to spare. My camaro ran 13.2's (longtubes, SLP exhaust, CAI and a tune.) The eco ran 15's bone stock, but from the videos I've seen, with just a few simple mods, these things can easily be put in the mid 12 range. As for actual numbers the camaro needed gas every two days and was usually about $35 to fill up (91 octane of course) the eco is about the same at $35 but I fill up once a week now.

Thats a nice mustang. Once I am finish paying off my Camaro, I will purchase a mustang, but I will get the GT350R. Sorry, but I love to burn fuel.......
In my humble opinion, it never a good idea to trade a vehicle for fuel saving cost, it better to trade it for other reasons. The accumulative fuel saving cost difference per fuel tank will not be high enough to over come the capital cost difference of the newer vehicle, in a short period of time. I have a LS3 and I get 18 mpg, which I think it better.

Rigghht??? id be lucky if i saw 16mpg in city on my old 10 ss now my 13 1le gets about 13-14mpg average but that 3.91 headers/no cats n a fun foot will hurt your gas... but that really isnt a concern by me.. just curious as to how people are getting over the EPA ratings??

That's what I was thinking as well. Sure, there are a LOT of cars out there with better gas mileage. No kidding. Rarely, can you have both power and gas mileage, unless were talking about one of those new, all electric, supercars that can do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds with a top end of over 200 mph, all on batteries. Of course, it will cost you over $200,000.
But the OP should have known from the start that an SS gives you gas mileage in the lower teens if your aggressive with it. And why would anyone drive an SS and NOT be somewhat aggressive with it. lol. Sounds like women that wear tight, short dresses and then get mad at men for having "elevator eyes." |

I just filled up at Chevron here in NorCal. $3.50/gal and climbing. They're going to pay insurance companies with gas hikes for Harvey. And if Irma hits the mainland US, gas may be $10.00 by Thanksgiving. He might have made the right move!
