A8 rear end gear swap?

Is it possible to swap out the rear end gears for high performance gears in the A8? Such as 4.10 gearing?

Not yet...however some guys are going to shorter tires as a bandaid for more gear. Stock 275-35-20 is 27.6" tall. They make a 295-30-20 that is 27" tall and will fit the stock 20x9.5 wheel.

Could custom gears be made for mour camaros , but I bet that would be expensive!

You can direct swap the axles and carrier from a manual 6 into the a8 that will take you from 2.77 to 3.27.. As for King LT1 statement only the SS models come staggered the v6 cars come stock square we dont get the 275 tires..

Hmm wonder how much that would cost to perform a direct swap...? Would I need to recalibrate the tranny and ecu I'm assuming?

The A8 rear gears are 2.77:1

The M6 rear gears are 3.73:1

A 3.73 rear gear swap into an A8 car would make first gear practically useless. First gear in the A8 is 4.56:1, multiply that by the 2.77 rear gear and you have 12.63, that's the equivalent of a TH400 (2.48:1 first gear) and a 5.09 rear gear. Now put in a 3.73 and it's now 17.01, that's the equivalent of a TH400 with a 6.86 rear gear.

Your math is correct and I'm not disagreeing with your thinking but their is one subtle difference, you have more than 3 forward gears in the 8l90 (or 8l45 in his case) than the th400.
If you're looking for more torque to get you going WhiteLightening then I say go for it and see what happens.
