And I completely agree with you about Dodge having the stones to build this.

Nice numbers!
BUT - Dodge markets this car as a drag car, yet if you actually try to take it to a legit drag strip you will get booted after one run do to a lack of a roll cage? ...marketing fail. |

Anyone who is not a stranger to the drag strip, will understand that it's not like this car is going to be literally banned from all drag racing. That said, all it would take, is adding a cage & a few safety items and you're set for NHRA sanctioned events. If a person can afford the car, they can afford to tailor the remaining bits to suit their needs.

This is a badass car, I love how Dodge gave lots of options drivers wanted. The customization of the drive modes is very cool.
As per other comments on drag strips, I thought NHRA banned this car already, so wouldn't that prevent an owner from participating in NHRA sponsored events, even if the car had roll cage installed???

It's a hell of a car -- stock... the tech is something for sure! Dodge raised the bar. If you drag race, this one is something else!

I talked to Tim Kuniskis from Dodge about this earlier this week. Putting a cage in from the factory causes all kinds of legal issues on the corporate end. Then you have the fact that different people want different types of cages... Swing out, etc. The answer is that if someone is going to build a 9 second car, they're going to need to do the work to get it into the 9s, then they're going to need to add a cage.

Who cares, unless you actually want to compete with it. Even if you did, you could build one for less yourself. There are those that like to go straight fast... and there are those of us that live for this...

IMHO, FCA should've simply made a swing-out cage standard. It would've appeased the majority of people buying this car and also permitted them to actually use it on a track.

No cage is a perfect solution and excuse for the Demon's target audience....The bad boy's badge of honor for being banned from legal drag events would have to be given up with a cage....No choice but to be a smoke-show only You-tube hero on the streets...Street creds as a gangsta-rap, thug-life toady that never sees a track are the real goals of this Demon.
