SWAP 3.45 DIFF INTO A8

WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAS SWAPPED A 3.45 DIFF OUT OF A STICK CAR INTO THE AUTO'S YET? OR IF THIS IS EVEN POSSIBLE, NOT SURE WHY IT WOULDN'T BE BUT IDK IF THE MOUNTS ARE ANY DIFFERENT. I'M CURRENTLY PROCHARGED BUT THE 2.77'S I FEEL ARE HURTING ME ON MY TIMES OFF THE LINE AND I BARELY GET TO RUN THE 1/4 CONSIDERING THE CLOSEST TRACK IS 2.5 HOURS AWAY IN MEMPHIS. WE HAVE 1000FT TRACKS HERE UNFORTUNATELY. CAR IS MY DD SO I DON'T THINK THE GEAR SWAP WOULD KILL MY MPG ON THE HWY, OBVIOUSLY GOING TO EFFECT IT DRIVING THROUGH TOWN. BUT I KNOW THIS WOULD BE A BIGGER JUMP THAN WHAT MY 5TH GEN WAS GOING FROM 3.27 TO 3.91'S BUT THAT WAS ONE OF MY BEST MODS.

There are several gear swap threads if you want to search for them to see what others have done. Here is one example with some speed charts:

As said, 3.73 is the M6 ratio. While it could be done, the other issue that I am sure you can handle is updating the transmission side of the calibration as well for the new ratio.

A8 first gear is aleady pretty aggressive regardlesss of the 2.77 final, not sure how your 60ft is hurting from that?
The 6m/3.73's are less aggressive than the A8 with 2.77's in every gear.

I want a 3.73 also and I dont think it will hurt our 60' times. Matter of fact, I think a higher stall converter and a rear end swap would help our 60' time greatly.

Not proven yet....but these will be the first things I do to my car after my warrenty expires.

I believe (till proven wrong) for a drag strip car this is the right path. For a road coarse car, this may not be a benefit. It all depends on your goals.

Bigger converter, 3.73 rear end, transbrake = my first mods. Only time will tell if I'm wrong.
