Cags Eliminator on a Vert?
I bought my CAGS eliminator a couple months ago, but never had time to install. Put my car up on stands today, and it looks like the area below the transmission is completely covered by a belly-pan type structure. I don't think this is present on the coupes, has anyone installed a CAGS on a vert? Did you have access issues?
(( was using a dinky jack, so couldn't get my car very high, so wanted to make sure, since there was very little room to really see anything under the car) Thanks Joel |

Bump, doesn't anyone have a a stick 'vert? No one did the CAGS eliminator?
I need to dig around again under the car, but there is definitely more stuff under the tranny than in the coupe. |

I had my local shop do the install on my '17 vert. It was no different from on the coupes, from what I could tell. They had to reach into a pretty narrow area to get it done, but that's the same situation as on the coupe. Took 5 minutes once the car was up on the lift and we identified the right connector.

OK, thanks for responding. In the Phastek video, it looks like its an open approach right to the connector, but I squeezed myself under the car and couldn't see it. I appreciate the info, I'll give it another try once I get it up higher, gets a little claustrophobic down there. . .
Cheers, Joel |

I have one waiting to install (both for time and weather). Haven't had an opportunity to get under the car.
Watching and waiting...

OK, found the right solenoid, and can even touch it. . . but
Failed. My fat hands can get to it, but not release the tab at the same time. I even had my wife crawl under the car and try, but she thought she'd break it, since she couldn't tell if the tab had been released. I may have to just tuck tail and go to a shop with a lift. My shoulders barely fit under the car with the jackstands, and I"m not comfortable forcing it. Closest dealer (Weseloh in Carlsbad) wouldn't do it when I took it in for an oil change, anyone have a suggestion for a shop in north SD? I may just go to an oil-change place when they're not busy and flip 'em a $20, but I'm worried they'll break the plastic harness as well. Suggestions? (and yeah, I'll admit wimpiness) |

Bummer. :( I hate dealing with the clips that automakers use for their wiring harnesses. I just don't work with them enough to know the tricks to get them to disengage, so it's always a struggle. LOL So I didn't even attempt this myself after hearing about the difficult access.
Anyway, the best help I can offer is that, next time you're going to be up in Orange County, give Shane or Ralph at Aliso Viejo Auto Service a heads up. https://www.yelp.com/biz/aliso-viejo...ce-aliso-viejo Tell them that Matt referred you since they did this earlier on my Camaro. They did mine with no trouble (but did need to poke a screwdriver up in there), so I imagine the charge would be pretty minimal. Just call ahead to make sure that you don't show up when their lifts are occupied. I couldn't stand that CAGS. Glad I got rid of it!

Thanks Matt. Funny thing is, I'm totally used to shifting around 2nd now, but just knowing its there bugs the crap outta me. I'm not much of a mechanic, but thought I could handle this simple project. I'll hit up a local guy first, but if I get pushback, I'll roll up to your guys.
Enjoy the weekend, Joel |

I did the cags delete on my SS 2016 vert. There was no body pan under the trans on mine. No issues. Took less than 20 min. Much better. You can drive around it. But for such a cheap and easy fix why!!???
