Camaro Exterior Protection? Best Solutions
Looking for some exterior protection options Camaro owners have gone with.
Got the car yesterday drove it home drove it around today and have 2 dings one that has a rock chip in it on the door already. So I've heard of some people getting OptiCoat installed on the vehicle... how much does this normally cost? My guy here says $900 for OptiCoat or $1200 for the Plus. I don't know a whole lot about it but have been researching it. I have had 5 vehicles in the past Paint protected and will most likely do this one. What do you all think is the best way to go with this vehicle. This vehicle seems to pick up dings nicks etc fairly easy. |

Coating aren't going to protect against rock chips. You can do paint sealants or coating yourself, very easy to do. Rock chip protection would be best to use something like Xpel or 3M makes some products as well.

I used Xpel on the front clip entirely, both front quarter panels, rocker panels back to the rear wheels and up to the seam in front of the rear wheel. Also a patch right behind the rear wheels.
Then a few coats of Ceramic Pro... Golden.

What part of the door is that ding on? Just curious as driving around usually doesn't kick up rocks to ding the doors i would think unless your talking about the rear quarter panel just behind the door. The dealer maybe sold you the car and you didn't notice till today possibly? Happened to me and was too late to blame anyone but myself for not inspecting it to the bone LOL

This gives you the best of both worlds -- paint protection in the areas prone to rock chips and a couple layers of extra gloss to the entire car. Well worth the money.

I decided to go with colored vinyl wrap which isnt as thick as Xpel (3mm vs 8mm) but it does look awesome and protects the paint to some degree. around 2200 for install on the entire car. From my research if you want to Xpel ALL of the problem areas that you would need to protect if you are going to be doing any HPDE or track driving you start to approach the cost of doing the full colored wrap very quickly. (front bumper, fenders, side skirts, front A-beams, exterior of wheel wells, maybe hood)
