Put down 1 drag radial run 12.020 @ 115.35mph. Just because I like to have fun with the easily excited: My prior seat time with the 2016 Camaro SS was driving it from the pits to the staging lane on "Tour Mode" w/Track exhaust mode on. Put the vehicle into "Track Mode" turned traction control off and did a mini tire cleaning burnout then ran the quickest quarter mile time of my life with a 12.217 @ 115.90 mph. Followed this up by running a 12.020 @ 115.35mph on drag radials 3 runs later, my new quickest ET. |

This white ss run well considering the DA on street tire 2015 GT put down about 10 more rwhp than 2011-2013 on a friend Mustang dyno Wheel hop = non existent on slick on a prepped track, 1.525 stock susp. on Hoosiers slick with bolt-ons 12.09 all stock with 17" bias ply e.t. street, same day 11.90 strategie diablo 93 and 17" e.t. street tire only, 11.07 my custom tune, cai, Arh long tube headers, magnaflow competition catback, 28x10-17 Hoosier slick, aftermarket clutch. All in superb condition -400 to 1000 da. The 16 ss is faster in stock form. With bolts on will see I gain more than a seconds! Coyote respond very well to bolt ons. I have spent a few Friday and Saturdays watching cars run at VMP, and I have yet to see a non-modded 2015 Mustang run quicker than 12:70s, most are running 12:90s. There are a few running low 12s and high 11s but these are tuned modded cars running lightweight wheel & DR combinations. We will have to see how the Camaro's fare at VMP.

You are right same day same track for direct comparison. However at my track I seen same day a Lund tuned 2015 GT with Cai, exhaust drag radial and skinny run 12.15 @115 while a friend with same car same mods without skinny but custom tuned on a mustang dyno 11.84@118. Those are auto I seen stock 2015-2016 Gt auto in the 12,4's to 12,90's. They are low on mph stock 109-112 but pick up like crazy with a good tune. My M6 113-116mph stock optional 3.55 gear. 3.73 car are usually slower than 3.31 or 3.55 car. For M6 manual time can vary by a lot because of the driver. First time I drove a friend car I made 14.40's he did 14,80's same day just before me. Imagine when you talk about a 11 or 12 sec car. It's easier to compare auto . I'll be running at Bradenton this Sat night. I'll be happy with a 12.5. Until I cut the magic 1.8 60' time and get some practice with the car, I don't expect low 12's right out of the box. We shall see.

At this point the 5.0 competes better with the v6 camaro. Gt350 and new SS are a good run

I do not go off of magazine times, I go by what I see down here in S. FL. In our weather, you will be brought back to earth rather quickly on what you think the car will run. I have seen mustangs go fast and slow, I have seen camaro's go fast and slow. But as I have said before, very few who actually do run the cars show up bone stock. Most will at least have a tire. So as the video shows, it depends on who is behind the wheel and what they are bringing. Sure the new 16 are faster stock, I will say that, but to say the V6 is as fast as a 5.0 ? Well that is just pushing it waaaay out there. |

We had a V6 Mustang running 13.7 at our track recently, but he was trapping 99MPH. When my 15 SS only hit 13.5 the same night, he was confident that his car was a match for mine. Difference? I had traction issues and he didn't. I trapped 110 that night and absolutely would have walked him hard from a roll or in a longer race. I know, roll racing doesn't count. Depending on rain, we shall see what my new 16 2SS can do tonight.

Nobody should be thinking the new V6 Camaro can hang with a 5.0. Sorry, but no.
But I still respect the V6 very much...its a great car. Honestly, with some basic bolt ons, I think the V6 Camaro could give a stock 5th gen L99 a run for its money (advantage to the 5th gen SS). The V6 Camaro only needs an extra 15 - 20 HP to have the same power to weight ratio. Anyways...this is going off topic a bit.

Doesn't look like I'm running tonight. Will try again in two weeks.
