I'm hoping to get a 50th, the current camaro will have a lot of miles by then.

Was going to get a new Corvette next time around. Got to drive one recently. Based on the amount of driving I do, I would be afraid to touch the darn thing daily. Might wait for the Corvette 8 for retirement instead.
So the 50th Camaro will be a consideration. I was sold on the 45th primarily due to the design of the whole package. Hoping they do just as good job, if not better on the 50th.

I have thought about this too getting either a 1st model year 6th gen or waiting for 50th version depending on what it looks like and what graphics or special paint it has on it. Isnt 50th like Gold or something? So maybe black and gold 50th

The '67-'02 Camaro was produced by the General Motors Corporation, that ceased to exist in early 2009. The General Motors Company was founded in mid 2009. This entity began production of their Camaro for the 2010 model year. Thusly, the "new" Camaro will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the 2060 model year. That is if we're going to actually be factual and not just sentimental.

Since I just bought my 14' last month, I am definitely waiting on the 50th. By my calculations I should be in pretty positive equity by then so the trade in at the dealer won't hurt as bad.
I just really really hope they do something just stupid as hell with the 50th, not just like oh here is some decals we slapped on an SS. I mean something ridiculous. |

Same here!! I plan to keep my 2012 as a DD and drive 50th occasionally. My 2012 will be paid off by then. Thinking getting it with the most options then leave it alone except wheels perhaps. Then again thats what i said about my 2012

So, by the facts at hand, the currently produced Camaro is actually at best an all new company's 1st gen spiritual successor to the original 4 generations of a different organization's Camaro, rather than a direct successor.

doesn't matter, still at 2017 it will be 50yrs since the Camaro was first built....no matter who built it or when it wasn't a current model.
Maybe we shouldn't count the 2015 Mustang as a 50th, because I don't count the Mustang II as a real mustang.... |

You are totally correct about Mustang's discontinuous production history. Mustang II was a totally different model from Mustang, just like Bronco and Bronco II.
But production years missed isn't really the issue at hand, anniversaries celebrate the beginning not the consistency of production. Its the different company production that's the issue at hand. This would be no different than if say Suzuki, just for random example, were to have picked up the Camaro nameplate once GMcorp went bankrupt and then began production of a Suzuki Camaro. Would you be fine with a 2017 Suzuki Camaro being labeled as a 50th Anniversary? Now that's obviously a completely obtuse example, that would never occur, but the core concept is the same.
