Header without cats.

Ok I have tsp 1/78 lts on my 2010 ls3 and the smell from not haveing cats is pretty strong. I can smell if from like 25ft away! I've been around other cat less ls cars and their smell was kind of faint even the cammed ones. Is something wrong or is this normal?

That's the main reason I get cats. I have gone catlessin the past and I hate smelling like I went go karting

My Camaro is catless, cammed with Kooks long tubes and Kooks exhaust. From my experience depending on the brand fuel you run will affect the smell.

Im running Doug Thorley 1 3/4 Tri Y headers and no cats with a tune, I can only smell it if im standing directly behind the rear bumper. The smell is very minimal

In my 4th gen I have 22* of overlap no cats and it's not that bad. You must be a little rich at idle.

My L99 also has kooks Lt's no cats and center mount exhaust. No smell

Of course you will have weird smells until the new headers break in then after that it will depend on the gas you run. I use chevron 91 here in CA and at idle I can smell it but not to overwhelming. Its a different smell when I use 76 also but not as strong. U got a CAI? Look into your tune and see if your air-fuel mix might is off also.

You need to have your tune checked. I ran catless without a tune for a couple hundred miles and definitely smelled the raw fuel from running rich. Once I was got tuned it was considerably better. It's always gonna be rich on the first startup of the day, no matter if you're catless or not. I switched to HFC's because I got an awesome deal on them. The smell is all but gone.

Yea I'm running a spectera Cai and I'm sure the headers are broken in because my car is a dd and I've had them about 6 months. I just curious how it could be my tune tho if I had the smell before I tuned the car. But I will be contacting my tuner tomorrow to make an appointment to have it checked out

Overwhelming smell of fuel is from two things. Either you're running rich as hell or you have a fuel leak.

I don't think it's a fuel leak because it doesn't smell like unburnt fuel

Wouldn't that smell similar to the smell you get when pumping gas?
