2024 Factory Paint Issue
Has anyone else who purchased a 2024 finding dirt in their paint? Mine has dirt in the paint on the hood and also on the Majestic Black Rims. There is awful orange peel also.
I love my car, just very disappointed for the price in the quality of the paint job. I have had many comments about the poor quality of the paint. Last edited by Sgregg; 05-03-2024 at 11:34 PM. |

dust nibs are in all paints. I have them and if they bother you that bad wet sand them off and polish it out. Or take to a detailer who knows how to fix it.
All cars have orange peel and its part of the design. If it was perfect flat paint you would see WAY more imperfections unless it was a 100k hand paint job sanded to perfection and then as soon as you touch it. It will show way more scratches than the orange peel version. I am sure most of the comments are from people who dont know anything.

A compromise is indeed necessary, achieving paint perfection the way Koenigsegg and others do is extremely expensive.
However, one may argue that GM went for a low, very cost efficient quality target and could at least offer improved quality (say, some "post-processing" aka paint correction similar to what detailing shops offer) as an option. My paint was pretty good out of the factory, by the way. Of course it had everyone's "favorite" orange peel, but at least no flaws or big dust nibs. The previous Camaro I owned had a big chunk near the roof edge.

I think I have an eye lash in mine right behind the right rear window. And some other little pieces of something in there. The more you look closely the more you will see.

I have a couple of nibs here and there but not noticeable unless you're really looking for them. And the orange peel is to keep the paint protected, once you start removing it then you're taking that clear coat away.

On a 23 that I had, the paint was really bad under the hood and noticeable issues around the window seal near the A-pillar.

Yes, under the hood. Paint runs and paint that was peeling off.

I consider myself lucky since the paint job on my 24 2SS vert is great. When I bought new Corvettes in the 70s, the paint was horrific. Lacquer. St.Louis built. That changed for the better when the end of the C3 run were made at the new Bowling Green plant.
I had a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4 dr 4X4 that came out the plant with nearly no clear coat.I always hand washed it with Blue Corral mild detergent and hand waxed it with non-abrasive wax. The red paint would come off on the applicator. It would dull out in a matter of weeks- all of this on a garaged vehicle. The zone office authorized new basecoat/clearcoat on the hood and roof. |

Yeah, my 2022 paint sucks. Chips easy and there's a couple spots down to the white from rocks or whatever. There's even a small section that looks like it's bubbling? Oh and on top of that, it's my first black car. I always wanted a black car. Thought it would never look dirty. Boy, was a seriously wrong.

Really? I thought it was very common knowledge that black cars are the hardest to keep clean because they show absolutely everything...

It's like having children. You never quite understand the "blessing" until you experience it yourself
