I might consider a 35 series tire up front next time to fill in that wheel gap.

Did some work to the front brakes last night to try and ready the car for an SCCA event at PittRace this thursday. Been having a strong vibration under heavy braking at the track and thought a change to a track pad might fix it up. Been talking with a friend of the camaro6 forum that raced this track with his car and going to make some upgrades to see if I can make these calipers work. These new pads are Hawk DTC 60's and the rears are EBC yellow stuff pads. (Can't seem to find the hawk pads for the rears) Had another new set of SS rotors from the last Camaro on the shelf that were the same 13.6" diameter so the front brakes will be all new. Wanna try to do the Blackwing cooling duct mod in the near future as well as some DOT4 fluid.
Sticker +10hp Old worn uneven pad. These have 2 track events and 16k on them. |

I had a Sebring Orange Z06 and modded everything that was red to orange or black. Red against orange just never looked right.
- Paddle shifters - Dash plaque - Steering wheel emblem - Sill plates - Front, rear and side emblems - Center caps - Side and rear red reflectors

Nice car! Did you end up doing any work to the brakes for track operations?

So I think I found a brake pad combo that works well with the LT1 brake setup. The Hawk dtc60's up front with a set of Dynamic Friction rear pads have yet to give me any problems other than some squealing during normal daily driving. I did have EBC yellow stuff pads in the back but they got chewed up within 2 track events and the brake dust was the worst of any pads I've tried. I got some track pics I've been meaning to share from last september at Pittrace with autointerests and the SCCA track night from this spring.

Just installed the BMR 3/4" front lowering springs to try and narrow that front wheel gap. Was worried the front gap would be too small but mirrors the rear wheel well gap with the 315's. Took me about 2 hours once I bought a 24mm socket. Honestly I don't feel any difference from stock but have another track day 7/19 I'm anxious to test it out on.
Old vs new springs. New springs are slightly shorter than stock and don't require the spring compressor to install. New wheel gap. |

Finally got to install the brake deflector kits on the car this spring. The back kit is off of a cadillac blackwing car and just bolted up to the rear control arms with 3 bolts and a spacer. Only modification required was to nip a 2" piece off the dust shield.
Fronts were a little trickier to get cobbled together. The front deflectors are off a CTSV Blackwing and were easy to find. The 2 interconnecting ducts that goes from the front of the grill through the fenderwell liner took some finding and all parts needed purchased separately. The hardest part was there was no directions but once you see how it goes in, takes about 15min a side. For an RS car, 2 grill inserts get popped out and there is a trim line as well that needs cut to fit the base model grill. The dust shield needed trimmed but I just made air holes because I read without the shield, the tie rod boot likes to melt from the heat. I also threw on a new set of rotors and replaced the Hawk DTC60 pads with the HP+ set. The 60's were great on track but squealed like a banshee on the street and the dust was the worst. The HP+ pads are way more street-able and hopefully with the new ducting, can take the heat. If the rain stays away, I'll be at the track to test out the new setup in a couple days. |

Still running the stock rears. I noticed there is a very slight change when on the track. The new front BMR springs help the car rotate a little better through the turns.

Love this thread - I'm in a similar situation with an LT1 I love as a DD but wouldn't mind upgrading some weak points for amateur low level/sprint style competition like trackcross or TNIA events. Some great info here, particularly with the pads you managed to find. Great job getting the results you have with such minimal mods.

Just ran a track night with the HP+ pads and they do work ok but I found myself relying on slower traffic to cool them down. Better than the EBC but still are showing some heat issues. The DTC60's were the only pads that stood up to the 20min track sessions but the dust and the noise for daily driving makes them difficult to live with. I still wanna try one more trick and swap in the 1le dust shields and see if that'll help with stopping this car. |

Here's a photo dump for some early summer events. PittRace SCCA TNIA, drag night at Quaker City Motorsports Park and an ice cream run to Jerry's with the doggo's.

Installed some pinch weld lift pads off amazon for about $25. Bolted on in about 15 min and now I don't know how I got by without em. Hopefully this will keep the inspection station from crushing the underbody of my car as you can see in the second pic.
