Hello so the tuner just got back to me with the build list. This is what they said:
A full cam kit comes with the following: Cam, lifters, liter trays, head gaskets, head bolts, push rods, valve seals, balance springs, valve locks, retainers, valve cover gaskets, timing chain, timing tensioner, cam gear and bolts, front plate cover, oil pump, oil pump o ring, spark plugs, spark plug wires, all front cover gaskets and seals, water pump gaskets, oil pan gasket, balancer bolt, two oil changed with GM racing filters, new antifreeze, valve job and cylinder head surfacing, all the labor, and tuning (I’m sure I’m missing stuff too) is all included in the cost for a cam kit. That cam will not drive completely stock it will have its quirks, but overall it is a very well mannered camshaft. They are referring to the BTR 220 Cam. I believe it is his wife that takes care of the inquiries, not the tuner himself thats why it says "im probably missing some stuff too" Im no expert but it sounds like a good setup.. I am strongly considering it.. Is there anything else i should watch out for? Opinions? By the way I was also told by the stealership a year or 2 ago that my oil pan gasket is leaking ever so slightly and was quoted $1300 to replace it.. so that would get taken care of. |

i think very minimal gains, if any. idk if there's any direct power to be had with higher fuel pressure. my bolt on 1LE car was seeing an injector pw max of 5.5 ms on e80 with a lambda of .88 - i imagine adding a fair amount of power would push that pw up into the uncomfortable range. i'm no tuner, just sharing info. i would feel much better knowing it would not be near the end capabilities of the fuel system simply for the peace of mind regarding longevity & reliability. it would prob be fine on gasoline.

Tighten all the pan bolts before spending a dime on this oil leak. It's a known issue that the bolts get slightly loose and cause a drip. I tightened mine 3 years ago because of a spot on the garage floor and have not had a drop of oil leak out since.

Hello, I just want to follow up the car has been cammed for a month now. Very happy with the setup, it drives like stock. I went with the MSD manifold. Katech 103mm throttle body, and switched out my Mishimoto catch can for a Mighty Mouse. My car already had headers, flex fuel, a Rotofab CAI, and Borla Atak exhaust before the cam. Since the cam retains VVT with a limiter i can feel the VVT when I hit the gas. The car lurches forward when I get on it, which personally I think this is cool. I can tell some people might not like this. Very daily drive-able cam, and my car is manual too. The Car put down 538 HP and 503 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels. I may record a video for youtube to show how the idle sounds i really don't see a lot of videos on this camshaft but it chops good. Overall the car just feels so strong.. very satisfied.

Thanks for the update. I'm seriously considering doing this cam or the 225 this coming winter. Are you still on stock heads? If so, those are really good numbers. Who did your tuning? An idle and some revs video would be awesome if you get the chance!

Thank you I'm glad you asked. It was built and tuned by Tyler Czipar at Czipar Performance in Iowa, he also tunes remotely. I am in Wisconsin so it was worth the drive down there. My car is running the stock heads. I'm glad I went with this cam the car drives like its stock it just pulls like a freight train now and doesn't fall on its face up top like how it did. I'm glad I didn't go with a crazy aggressive grind cause i wanted to keep my bottom end torque for bombing around town. It actually gained 8 ft lbs of torque with the cam too. Here is a short idle clip I took, I am gonna record some better videos when I get a chance. https://youtube.com/shorts/hdHI-DJlU...WPgyCoRF7yVUCx

Thank you it's just recorded on my iPhone 12 pro, the camera really doesn't do it justice it sounds a lot better in real life. My tuner also did say this cam works well with a procharger.

Yeah the BTR 220 wasn't originally part of my build sheet, it just happened to be part of a deal, so I'm not sure how much boost is going to be lost out of the exhaust, and so I'm not sure yet on where my cherry spot will be for pulley size. Ideal would be the car makes 600-650whp on whatever it makes. But the math doesn't support that. According to Procharger, with a 4.88" pulley I'll see somewhere around 9psi at 6500rpm. I plan on a 7,000rpm redline and a max shift at 6,800rpm. It makes what it makes. If the car sees 9psi, with all the engine goodies, it's likely going to make more than 650. Unfortunately I won't have a baseline to go off of for this dyno, and I don't track my car, so I'll only get one performance metric. Personally, I'll let the fuel system decide how much power is enough, LOL.
