Had me some hydroplaning fun
Okay.. ..maybe you shouldn't drive your SS like this in the rain... ...still.. ..I enjoyed it...
In seriousness I thought I was a little more clear after I escaped the large puddle near the barrier and decided to accelerate a bit more than I should have. I canceled out the slide by shifting into neutral and gently correcting. |

While I am stunned at the amount of grip the G/Y Supercar tires have in wet the few times I've driven in the rain, it has also been much less water then that. Have never had the water spraying up like that in the Camaro, lol. I probably would have been driving like a granny if I was stuck in that, and avoiding all puddles =P

It's still better than it was stock in the rain though. If it were stock I would have just stayed behind the SUV |

Call me a wuss but I’ve yet to attempt to gun my throttle even a hair when it’s so much as slightly damp in the road. I switch into old gramps mode in his ‘87 Town Car.
When it’s wet I’m granny shiftin, not double clutchin like I should…. Wait have I heard that before lol?

I did some hydroplaning back when I had my 17 50th 2SS and I think my *ss is still puckered from it.
It rained here the other day and, yep, +1 I drove the Z home like a grandpa.

Yeah, I had a moment a few weeks ago hydroplaning and it was extremely scary.
Swapped out the Goodyear 1LE tires for General all-seasons because it suited my normal use case better. Even with those I almost hydro-planned into oncoming traffic on a 2 lane 90 km/h road (I was going just under 60 km/h when it happened). It was one of those days where it started sunny and then I drove into huge downpours where my wipers couldn't keep up. Our roads are pretty crappy here, and a lot of roads get tire grooves (maybe from trucks in the thaw period? not 100% sure what causes these) in them that push/pull your car even in the dry, but in the wet they fill with water (about 4-6"). After that I was rolling at about 40 km/h. |

I was caught in a torrential downpour on the way back home after doing a track day. You feel every slip and slide in the seat. Good news was the car got a good bath.

My first drive home from the dealer took me through about 3 hours of pouring rain on back roads. I quickly realized the best way to drive was offset to those tire grooves so you aren't in the wet channel. Another tactic was to drive close enough to the car ahead so that their tires clear a path in the puddles for you. Again, this was a back road and we were doing 30-40mph so I didn't need to be super close to the car ahead, about 1.5-2s behind at low speeds was fine.

You are one lucky SOB Need 4 that you didn’t wreck out! No way I would ever drive my ZL1 in the rain like that but that’s just me.
