Any upgrade tips for FBO 21 ss
Hi Folks,
I am taking my car for a tune today, going with FBO now!(WAITED SO LONG) I have a daily 21 2SS, I have LT2+LT5TB, Flex fuel, RotoFab CAI, Kooks 1-7/8 with high flow cats, corsa catback. Since my warranty is voided.. just wanna see what stock parts I need to upgrade to improve the reliability and runability. I have heard of people saying the DOD delete is worth it? I am not a big fan of the chops so...mainly for reinsurance... I heard the stock fuel pump and lifters are not great or giving people problems? AEMWide is a good option to monitor the AFR or maybe P3 Gauge? I feel it's cool to have a gauge but the top vent gauge pod I like is 120$(WTF...)but a little concerned about the wiring issue. Please feel free to share your thought... I don't know what I don't know so....THANK YALL

i think your only issue with a bolt on car will be the dod lifters. however, i also think if the lifters aren't operating as designed, they are not as much of a threat. ie if you have an m6 car, great. if not, disabling dod thru the ecu will def help it stay alive.
i dont think a full on cam swap is worth it, just to disable dod on a daily driven car. if all the car did was some kind of stock motor class racing then maybe.

The lifters are the weak point of the car, and a cam/lifter swap is the only true answer to fixing that. I don't think its worth it though. Personally I will be going full bolt on and taking my chances with the stock lifters and just be prepared to do a cam swap and/or repair after the fact if needed.
Tuning AFM out may help extend their life, and they could go 100k miles, but there is no guarantee. I may look into doing an aftermarket lifter swap and see how cost intensive that would be.
