Head check on a transmission fluid change M6
I'm going to change the fluid on my ZLE (M6). I have 4 quarts of GM Fluid 88861800 and a pump.
I plan to drain from the sensor and fill from the fill to 1/8th below the hole. A good way to measure this is full then remove 240ml Am I missing anything here? |

All sounds good. Alternatively, you can pump in 3 full bottles and then pump in an additional 12 oz (20 oz remaining in bottle) and that should get you to the same level of fluid in the trans, rather than pumping until overflowing and then removing.

Finally got around to doing this, what a pain in the ass to get an accurate reading.
If they want it 1/8" below the fill line, and give no dip stick, sight glass or other method of confirming, then I can't assume a few MLs in either direction is going to hurt it. I removed 240ML confirmed by graduated cylinder then accounted for what was in the pump tube, but checking it is a royal PITA. Thanks for the help though, it's nice knowing i'm not crazy. |

Yeah I was really anal about measuring perfectly the first time I did it. My method now is just to add till it overfills then remove about 200ml(id rather be high than low) and call it good.
