M6 Launching
Im just trying to get used to my car in terms of launching it, I only have a catback and a CAI, and Im running the stock tires on the street. Just looking to practice launching on the street. Any suggestions in terms of air pressure in the rear tires, and dumping the clutch or slipping it? And dropping it at which rpm?
Thank you

Never dump the clutch when launching. Also launching on street tires makes it a little more difficult for traction. I run mickey thompson 305/45r17 and hook very good. I cut low 1.6 60ft. You want to start launching at about 2500 and let the clutch off and give it gas as smoothly and quickly as you can at the same time. Basically a little slip. It takes a lot of seat time to get good, it took me about 6 months of going to the track 6 times a month to get the hang of it. Start around 2500 rpm and work your way up. If you hook and don't spin go up to 3k then 3200 so on so forth. It's all on feel. I only have e85 tune and I launch at 4500 now comfortably with no issues.

Dumping the clutch could have more shock to the rest of the power train, where as slipping you are only putting more of the stress on the clutch. The clutch is fairly robust on these cars so as long as you slip it correctly it should be fine. When you dump the clutch, the weakest part will give. Street tires, you will always just burn the tires, change the tires to more grippy and lower psi, then you will start putting all that stress to the rest of the power train. Eventually something else will break, slipping the clutch will make the power application smoother.
