Also, do you have to do both sides or just one? Last edited by Bilicki66; 11-30-2019 at 08:00 AM. Reason: Didn’t write all I wanted |

I've heard that after you relocate the wire, using a heat gun to reshape the fiber wheel well liner can help.

my early 17 SS with 1LE suspension and ZL1 wheels 305/30/20 and not a scuff on the liner.

All I did was use one of those panel fasteners, drill a small hole in the wheel liner in the area that protrudes out, and push the clip through the liner into a hole on the chassis(I used a hole where the wire harness was zip tied prior to relocation). It holds securely and looks like OEM with no clearance issues or rubbing.

I put on a 295/40r20, a tire that my buddy is very successfully running on the back of his 5th gen SS. We didn't think the size of the fender well would be that huge of a difference. We thought wrong.
Anyway, I had the tire shop put my old bald Goodyear Eagle F1s back on yesterday after I heard the rubbing. The damage was already done tho, and the check engine light was on. Just waiting for the other tires I ordered arrive at the shop. Got the wiring harness repaired today too, so no more CEL for now.

Think this would be necessary for the ZL1 with 325 30 R20?

From what I read, gm changed the routing of this body harness at some point, not sure if it was 2019 or 2020, though, meaning you may get away with not touching the harness. I'd check no matter what.
This tire is 0.8" wider than stock, so you may need a small spacer and/or massage the wheel well liner with a heat gun, because there isn't a lot of clearance to begin with, harness or not. Also, the 11" wide stock rear wheel is fairly narrow for a 325 width tire, the ZL1 1LE has 12" wheels in the back.

I'm going to have MRR M017 20x11 wheels and run 305/30/20 in the rear on my '24 LT1, is the harness location needed?
