I have the same issue on the front passenger side. If the passenger holds this plastic piece up in the corner where it's close to the windshield and right side mirror then sound disappears. I've mentioned this twice to the dealer. They lubed the locking mechanisms but they "don't hear" this problem. I'm planning to drive around with a tech next time. I hope they can pull off, lube and replace this plastic piece. Has anyone solved their noise one way or another?

This thread was several years old, but I'm glad it was resurrected, because the included sections with "The Six Concerns" was certainly very detailed. (If I could find out what they meant by the "fishmouth" thing in #6, I'd be looking at that, to address my occasional "tapping" sound from back there.)

Yes, it is the little black sliding panels causing the creaking. Grease with lithium grease periodically if they are unbroken. Replace if they are broken. The whole top panel with the slider is about $100/ each side.
