One difference I noticed when I traded my 6 for a LT1 was the weight under the hood. That 6.2L V8 makes the nose feel noticeably heavier while the 6 was more balanced.
I think it just comes down what your perception of what a Camaro is and what it should be. My 6th gen V6 was in an entirely different class of quality than my 2012 V6. And who can forget how the 1LE V6 beat the Mustang GT on a track? |

The gen6 is a great car with any of it's engines ,I have driven all 3.I could be happy with any of them.I got the one that was for me. A car that runs on premium is in a higher state of tune , that just makes me like it more.

Lots of good points here. Having had a 2SS, a 3LT 1LE and now an LT1 I wouldn’t go back to a V6. A 1LE is the only V6 to get in my opinion. It’s a phenomenal car and as commented on previously, excellent balance, snotty V6 and the sound of that engine is truly beautiful through the GM performance exhaust. It was no doubt the best handling car I ever owned, including my C7. But what that car lacked was low end torque. First and second gears didn’t do much for getting going. But after that 3rd gear absolutely rips. There’s just no comparison to the 455/455 of the LT1 engine. And yeah premium costs more but not by a lot really. Also I never got really good gas mileage out of the 3LT.

A lot of good points were made here but I want to put in my thoughts considering I had experience. The first which only one of you mentioned is the low end Torque. The V6 while very good for a V6 the one big thing I didn't like was the low end torque was meh. The V8 on the other hand has an Incredible amount of it and I really liked how effortless it was to merge onto the Interstate at low rpms.
Insurance for me is not that much its like 150-170 per month. Gas mileage I can actually now say is really impressive I am currently in Connecticut for my Dad's funeral and on the 1300 mile journey I got 29.5 mpgs as a high going 80ish the entire way. That was very impressive and yes hand calculated because the computer said I was at 30.2 so computer was a little off. The price of premium over regular imo isn't a big deal mainly because percentage jump in price in price comparison between regular and premium isn't really that much more expensive maybe 10 bucks really. At the end of the day I am in the camp of V8 over V6. There is nothing wrong with the V6 for those that like it though. |

The v6 doesn't have the grunt of a V8 or even a good turbo 4. It runs great where peak power is made which is more important to me.The power is there but sometimes you have to find it. Sorry for your loss.

The 6's is kinda revy and not very torqy-I had a 2012 6m. Loved the car don't get me wrong- I have the v8 now -Im ruined-I slept with the porn star thers no going back.
Fill up on my 2ss is about $90 and that gives me 310 miles to go on- Unless my foot is in it---which happens---I try to use the cruise control as much as possible to achieve higher mileage. I have the 10 speed auto and love the shit out of it. |

$6.09 here for 93 (~18-23mpg)
$4.30 for E85 (with 10-20 cents off which I get normally) (~10-18mpg depends if my foot seizure acts up)
