What's a converter worth?
Because the weather has been garbage every time the track is open I haven't been able to test this firsthand, and I really want to know the answer... I installed a Circle D "low 3k" converter a few weeks ago. Specifically built by Circle D for procharger/centri applications.
What kind of 60 foot and ET improvements could I expect going from a stock converter to a 3k stall converter? My last time out my 60' was 1.85 and 1/4 was 11.5@123 prior to the trans tune and prior to the 3k converter. I know I'll get maybe .2-.3 seconds from the trans tune, but not as clear about the converter. Taking tire ability to hook out of the equation... they wont, but let's pretend like they will... what kind of 60' improvements might I see? 1.7's? 1.6's? I've got a p1x (see sig for mod list), but curious in general on a centri, vs PD, vs NA.

I responded to another of your posts about the 1.85 short time that you did, and I think that the 200TW street tires were more of a factor in that time than the stock torque converter was. My own A8 SS with stock torque converter and a base centrifugal blower kit, using M/T ET Street S/S tires, went 1.63 on the short time in summer heat. Had I been running E50 like you are, it might have been ~1.60 on the same day is my guess.
IF you get some DRs to use with that stall converter, I'd be thinking that 1.5s should not be a problem at your current hp level, based on what I saw with the stock torque converter and likely a little less hp than you have now. With the 200TW tires though, I envision yet more tire spin than you had before the converter change. |

Trust me, i take the tire advice to heart, and will not be expecting to dead hook at full stall.
