From what I understand, they have Ohlin 2-way dampers as OEM. Lotus is a drivers car thru and thru It's too bad though that you can only get the dual clutch gearbox with the less HP AMG motor. One of the reasons for me moving to the GT4 was for the PDK

Too many variables though to judge based on a video. Set up is important, as is the drivers skill level. My comments are coming directly from just getting out of my SS 1LE and into the PDK GT4 back to back as a owner of both. For number racing, the 981 GT4 manual and the SS 1LE have very similar lap times. The 718 GT4 manual is quicker by a bit, and I have not seen any 718 PDK GT4's compared against the SS 1LE as of yet for track times.

The GT4 RS will be great though (at least from an engine POV). I think it will still have the "pogo stick" damping issues that the regular GT4 has. IMO, if you want to drive the GT4 in anger on ANYTHING other than a smooth surface, a high-end coil-over swap is required.

I saw your videos on the tube. I really appreciate your passion for these cars! I look forward to being "retired" one day and being able to do HPDE way more often than once or twice a year. I too enjoyed passing Porsches at a PCA event at RRR in my 2017 regular Camaro SS. I was in one group above whatever beginner is. My instructor got so pissed when I got stuck in log jams. He would make me pit just so I could catch back up.

I have had my GT4 for 2 mths now and there are a couple things the SS 1LE does better... GM's MRC damping is superior to Porsche's PASM and with it having a wider track, it is more stable at speed (on rough roads). On smooth roads and with the aero the GT4 has, it feels more stable at speed, but as soon as the roads turn to crap, it can get scary fast. I will say though that once you go mid-engine, it is hard to go back to front engine. The way the moment of inertia is right behind you and centered is a sublime feeling in the corners. I can carry about 7 - 10 MPH more speed in corners in the GT4 compared to my SS 1LE and it just rotates so effortlessly with scalpel precision. If I move on the from the GT4, it will definitely be the C8 Z06, as that is the only mid-engine car I will be able to afford (don't want the Lotus, not powerful enough)

I tried to order a C8 Z06, but refused to pay 30k over sticker. We seem to have the same taste in cars!! |

Regarding the C8 Z06, you can get MSRP, BUT you have to be willing to go out of state and get on a waiting list. There are a few big US Corvette dealers that are doing MSRP. The ones I have talked to are asking for a $2K deposit, refundable up until the allocation locks.

I don’t Mind going out of state, just do not want to wait over a year. At sticker, that is going to be a better bang for your buck then even The SS 1LE. I looked around and everyone who will give sticker are sold out of their allotment already. |

Because the future is everyone driving sedate electric cars that do 0-60 in 2 seconds but handle like a refrigerator
